Chapter 20

AMBER

I groaned in exhaustion as I could hear nearly everyone in the house sing 'happy birthday'.

Footsteps started to get louder and louder and eventually reached my door as it was opened unnecessarily wide. Scratch that, it was kicked open from the way I was hearing it.

Honestly, I really wouldn't know cause I was already under my blankets trying to hide from these people.

"Get up birthday girl", I felt someone throw themselves onto my bed causing a slight dip on my side.

I then felt hands land on my shoulder and within seconds I was being shaken continuously.

I fought the urge to get out of the blankets and give in but Ty already had that sorted when he pulled my blankets off of me.

Quickly I sat myself up and rubbed my eyes so they could adjust and allow me to look at everyone who was in here.

A small smile started to form as my focus landed on Aunti B who had some Krispy Kreme donuts in hand.

She had a cheerful smile on her face and it soon turned into a blush as she also, just like Aubrey, sat herself down on my bed.

"Happy birthday sweetheart" she said giving me a hug.

"You guys really didn't have to bring me a whole choir" I responded as I hugged my aunti back.

"I mean a nigga gon be real busy today so I figured we do a lil celebration so I get a small piece of the party" ty said as he jumped onto my bed landing on his tummy with a smile.

"We having a party?" I asked curiously.

"He was being sarcastic" Kim responded as she came in for a hug.

"But would you want one?" She asked breaking the hug. Everyone's eyes were on me as they waited for my response.

I knew exactly what kind of party Kim was talking about and I was indecisive.

I've never really had a big birthday party before so what were the odds of aunti B sacrificing her home for what could potentially be a house fire?....

"Can I think about it?" I asked wanting to put a pause on the party topic, for now.

"Sure, you have until second break at school to give me a response" she said sending a wink my way.

I took that as a sign that they have something planned for me later, I mean, they are acting a little suspicious, and Kim, well she would have been pressuring me for an answer or finding ways to convince me to have a party.

"Aunti-", I was interrupted by my aunti shushing me.

"Todays your day, so whatever you want, you will get" she said with a smile before she handed me the donuts.

"Anything?" I said thinking of the one thing I've been wanting to do since Kim and I moved here.

I looked at everyone as they nodded their heads, especially Ty before I mouthed what I wanted to do.

"Could I-"

"Anything except the cars" ty said reading my mind and interrupting me.

"Oh come on, it's my birthday" I said trying to get him to reason.

Since I've been here I've never taken my car for a little spin, plus it would be nice to go to school in my car for once.

"No, Amber that one ain't negotiable" he said sticking to his decision.

"You can have someone supervise me, come on please" I asked pleading some more.

He took a moment before letting out a sigh and getting himself off the bed.
