The sun was beaming down over New Berk. The new island was bustling with overworked Vikings. After six months of construction, the village was almost complete. The young chief, Hiccup Haddock III, had been working non-stop, day and night, to get everything done. Of course, without the help of the dragons, it was taking a little longer than they were used to.
"Left a bit," Gobber called up to the Vikings who were adding the last panel to the forge roof. "No, right a bit." He changed his mind. "There. Perfect!"
Hiccup made his way over to do his final checks.
"Wow, Gobber!" He dramatized. "Looking good." He nodded in approval.
"Isn't she a beauty?"
"She- she's great, Gobber." Hiccup agreed. His hand made its way into the back of his messy auburn hair.
Gobber just stood and stared at his magnificent masterpiece for a moment, while Hiccup stood beside him, waiting rather impatiently. Gobber spotted the young boy's face from the corner of his eye.
"Go find her, Lad. You've earned it." Gobber permitted.
Hiccup didn't need to be told twice. He let out a goofy lopsided grin before darting towards the newly built arena.
While they no longer trained dragons, the arena would still come in handy. It was Astrid who had insisted on building it. The arena was a good place to let off some steam, and Thor knows that without their dragons, people were gonna need it. Beside's it would be nice to have it, in case the dragons ever returned.
Hiccup made his way into the arena, where his friends were all in the middle of a sparring session. All except Fishlegs, who was studying Astrid's every move as she managed to fight off Snotlout and the twins with one hand, her left hand, holding the other behind her back.
"Hey, Babe." Astrid greeted as she threw Snotlout over her shoulder before kicking Tuffnut back then spinning to fend off Ruffnut.
"Afternoon, Milady." Hiccup smirked. "Having fun?" He chuckled, folding his arms and raising an eyebrow.
"Nah," She grabbed the mace in Tuffnut's hands and twisted it out of his clutches. "Too easy." She turned and smirked at him. While she was distracted, Snotlout seized the opportunity and ran up behind her. Did he really expect Astrid to fall for that? She ducked as he swung his hammer and then spun on the ground, taking him out from behind.
She made her way over to the auburn-haired chief.
"Sorry, guys. I'm stealing Astrid." Hiccup apologized, though he felt no guilt or shame whatsoever.
"Does Astrid have a say in this?" She smirked.
"Would Astrid want a say in this?" He chuckled. Astrid shrugged.
"I guess not." She agreed. She kissed him softly before grabbing his hand. "Let's go." She darted out of the arena, dragging her one-legged fiance behind her. She had no idea where she was going. But honestly, she didn't care. Hiccup had been so busy making sure All construction was finished before the wedding that she was just so happy to see him.
As they entered the forests of New Berk she let go of Hiccup's hand, much to his protests. He took a moment to catch his breath. How Astrid had so much stamina was beyond him. She could run around all day long and barely break a sweat.
