"Dad! You're back!" Zephyr called as her father stepped through the door after a long day of chiefly duties. He scooped his daughter into his arms as she rushed over to him.
"Hey, Monkey." He teased. "Did you have fun today?" He asked her. She nodded, smiling at him.
Astrid sauntered over to her husband with her son on her hip.
"Hey, Honey." She smiled before giving the chief a quick peck on the cheek. Both children covered their eyes.
"EWWW!" They groaned rather dramatically. Hiccup and Astrid let out a chuckle. They looked towards one another and smirked before returning their attention to the child they were holding. Astrid planted a kiss on Nuffink's cheek, while Hiccup did the same to Zephyr. Both children giggled.
Nuff let out a small yawn and rubbed his eyes sleepily.
"Let's get you two to bed." Hiccup suggested. "Who's turn is it tonight?" He asked his children, knowing it always had the same outcome. The children looked at each other and nodded, smirking mischievously.
"Mommy." Nuff chose.
"Dad," Zeph said at the same time.
They looked at each other once again.
"Daddy."
"Mom."
They swapped. Astrid and Hiccup rolled their eyes and chuckled before heading up the stairs and into their children's bedroom.
"First one into bed gets to choose the story," Astrid stated as both parents placed the children down at the same time. They both raced to their beds, Zephyr was just a fraction faster than Nuffink, not that it really mattered because they both wanted the same story that night.
"Zeph?" Hiccup gestured.
"Can you tell us about the Hidden World again?" She requested.
"Again?" Astrid asked, looking towards her children, who both nodded with excitement. She let out a sigh.
"Okay." Hiccup agreed as he scooped Zephyr out of bed and sat her with her brother.
Both Astrid and Hiccup placed themselves on either side of the bed, with the children sandwiched between them.
"The Hidden World is an old sea-faring legend, about a secret land at the edge of the world, where many sailors have lost their ships -- never to be seen again." Hiccup began. Astrid watched her husband intently as he spoke so passionately. After all this time, he never lost that sparkle in his eyes when talking about all things dragon-related. "Those who have returned reported sightings of a great waterfall and dragons guarding the entrance to a hidden world beneath the sea. A land from which all dragons hail."
"Your father and I once visited the Hidden world. Ten years ago." Astrid added.
"What happened?" Nuff asked.
"Well," Hiccup continued. "At first, it looked abandoned, but once we had flown through the darkness of the cave, there was nothing but bright sparkling lights as far as the eye could see. More color than I've ever seen."
"Stormfly lit up like a Fireworm as we flew further and further."

"Wow!" Nuffink gasped as his father finished his story, which lasted a little longer than it should have. "I wish I could go there!"
"Me too." Zeph agreed, letting out a small yawn before drifting off. Astrid looked over at Hiccup who was deep in thought.
"Honey..." She called. "A word?" Hiccup snapped out of his thought and carried a, now sleeping, Zephyr back to bed, tucking her in and planting a kiss on her forehead. Astrid did the same with their son before switching to give the other a goodnight kiss. Both parents headed out the door and down the stairs.

"Don't even think about it, Hiccup." She glared at him.
"What? What did I do?" He wondered.
"You're planning on taking the kids to the Hidden World." She knew him too well.
"How did you-"
"I know you."
Hiccup opened his mouth to protest but soon closed it again, knowing her statement was true.
"It's been so long since Toothless came to visit. Maybe it's our turn to visit them." He suggested.
"Hiccup, we barely made it out of the Hidden World remember." She stated. "Why in Thor's name would you want to take the kids there?"
"Astrid..." Hiccup whined.
"No, Hiccup. We almost died. It's not safe." She folded her arms and glared at her husband.
"Say's the woman who gave Zephyr an axe for her third birthday?" Hiccup muttered sarcastically under his breath.
"An axe can't swallow you whole!" She chuckled. She sauntered over to Hiccup and pulled him close. "Hiccup, they're just kids. I know you want to show them the world but, I just don't think they're ready for something like that."
He let out a sad sigh but soon nodded in agreement.
"You're right."
"Always." Astrid agreed before tugging at his tunic and pulling him into a kiss.
"But, since you're the one saying they can't go. You get to tell them." Hiccup declared. Astrid rolled her eyes. She pulled out of his embrace to punch him on the arm. "Ah!" Hiccup quickly covered his mouth, hoping his shrieking hadn't just woken his children up.
"You started this nonsense."
"Fine! I'll tell them." He sighed in defeat rubbing his newly bruised arm before being pulled back into a kiss.
"So..." Astrid sighed contently. "Dinner?"
