mess around - cage the elephant

"no."

all you had wanted now was to return home. your relaxing afternoon was interrupted and you didn't see a point in continuing it.

you stood up and left the cafe abruptly, ending the conversation.

when he asked, your mind fell back in shock. you were scared. you didn't want to get closer with gojo, and you felt like this was him taking a step in the opposite direction. he wanted to achieve some sort of friendship with you. you had almost accepted him too, but you realized how unwell that would have sat with mahito and the others.

but even after the rejection, he didn't give up.

-

(two hours later)

"please?"

"i said fucking no!"

you had been teleporting all over the city trying to lose gojo. still, no matter where you ended up, he was always there a second after you. you were sure he wouldn't know where you were, but he got there anyway.

you were trying your best to wear him out, hoping that soon enough he'd get tired and give up so you could go home. you decided that it wouldn't be the safest idea if you ran right home in the rare chance that he followed you there too. you couldn't lead someone like him to mahito.

you hadn't necessarily done anything wrong, but the indirect bad blood between mahito and gojo was clear. mahito wanted gojo dead, and gojo would have mahito dead in a second.

and that's how you got here, jumping from roof tops, to allies, to sewer tunnels, to all the way to the top of tokyo tower a few times.

you were visibly annoyed by his persistence as every time you saw him you'd groan and curse. he, however, acted like you guys were playing some sort of tag, laughing loudly and looking around excitedly for you.

you were confident in your ability, and yet, you hate to admit, he was fast.

after finally choosing to tell him to give up to his face, you teleported to a high school rooftop somewhere in sendai. he appeared there not much later with his back turned to you. he sighed contently thinking that he'd beat you there, and you silently crossed your arms and tapped your foot on the concrete roof to wait until he sensed you.

when he did, he spun around and took you in. his large grin dropped into a slightly cute and still childish pout. disappointed, he accepted that you beat him again and shrugged to himself.

"guess i'll chase you for a little longer," he told himself. he walked towards you with his hands in his pocket and a relaxed expression.

you scowled at him and narrowed your eyes at his calm behavior.

"judging from the really angry look on your face, you didn't stop to say yes." your fingers tightened around your arms. "but i'm fine with that." your eyebrow quirked up and you took a step towards him as well to signal him to continue.

it seemed like that was a mistake in hindsight, because as you did, gojo pulled one of your hands off your arm to hold it and pull you into him. in the moment that it took you to process this, he snaked a hand around your waist, pushing your chests together.

you blinked several times and shook your head. "w-what do you think you're doing?" a subtle blush covered the tips of your ears.

"i never did get your name," he diverted.
