you only had one ability that you found to be good for communication and not destruction.

it was an ability that you found to be helpful for you and mahito for a long time and it helped you to communicate with each other in this small sub-space that resided as the cause of your shared soul. really, it was an active domain that, instead of being held open by cursed energy for a short period of time, was constantly powered by the energy of your soul.

it wasn't a physical domain in the way that you could step in and out of it, however it did capture the mind and send an astral form of yourself to a dark black abyss covered in stars and planets. when you and mahito first discovered it, you found that you both could make anything you wanted of it, and that's what you both showed.

anything said in the space could be heard by the other no matter if they were also in the domain or not. it's how kept in touch with your brother for the past few days.

at the moment, you were seated outside the office of principal yaga of jujutsu high, waiting patiently for gojo and his boss to finish their conversation.

you decided to check in on your brother, so you closed your eyes and slowly let the process happen. it felt like your mind was being disconnected from your current body and being moved somewhere else, and it would always be a little disorienting at first.

upon your arrival under the starry sky you found your brother already seated on the floor, watching the gas balls blink.

"mahito? what are you doing here?"

"ahh... just looking for some time out of the sewers." your voices were echoing and sounded like how matte metal feels in your hands because of the distance between your true bodies.

"it feels like we don't talk a whole bunch anymore," he said.

"that's why we're here talking now."

"you didn't even know that i'd be here," he scoffed. "this doesn't count."

"i always know where you are," you joked. "i just don't care to find you."

mahito dryly laughed. "whatever. you're only here to tell me that you'll be back tomorrow."

you tensed slightly. "how'd you figure that out?"

"because you said the same thing to me yesterday."

you awkwardly rubbed your neck and smiled at him.

"did i?" you played coy.

mahito laughed. "it's fine," he said. "you seem safe and happy, that's all i really care about now. sure i get worried when you don't say something, but i trust you."

every time that mahito confided in you made you feel a growing sense of guilt on your shoulders. he was letting you go out into the world without his supervision and one of the first things that you did was fall in love with one of his biggest enemies.

"i'll come home tonight, i promise."

"pinkie promise?"

"who the fuck told you about pinkie promises?"

"geto did. he made me pinkie promise to let him win during game night for the next month." mahito frowned.

"i can't even fathom a normal promise with him."
