y/n shuffled around under the blankets for a moment, enjoying the feeling of the soft carpet underneath her, the thick wool over her, and the possessive arms around her.

as the sun seeped in through the sliding doors in front of them, y/n found it in her to open her eyes, taking a deep breath in and out and looking up to meet her husband's eyes.

a smile fell across her face as gojo looked back down once he felt her movement, though she was able to see past the relaxed facade that he put on for her so quickly. she could always see right through him, so the fake smile and loving eyes were easy to notice.

still, she kept her suspicions to herself. she knew that gojo thought about more than he let on, but she also knew that he'd tell her when he decided the time was right.

"good morning," she mumbled, opening her eyes fully and shifting closer.

"good morning," he said back. he moved to wrap his other arm around her, turning onto his side and pulling her against his chest. "how did you sleep?"

"amazingly," she sighed. "it was so nice and warm all night."

y/n went on to tell him about the dream that she had where she was swimming in the ocean. he couldn't entirely focus as the thoughts of tokyo resurfaced. even though he was happy to entertain her, the idea of being back so soon was too big to not think about.

of course, as gojo zoned out, y/n saw that as well. she stopped her rambling to huff, though it was less frustrated and more concerned.

"you're not listening to me, are you?" she moved to sit up, leaning on her hand and looking down at him.

though gojo's first instinct was to lie and tell her that he had been listening, he'd learned enough to know better.

"i'm sorry," he sighed. "i had a long night."

"i mean, we both had long nights," she joked.

gojo laughed back which thankfully helped him relax.

"i don't mind nights like that, though."

"me neither. but really, what's going on?" she brought her hand up to find his face and rest on his cheek, where gojo instantly relaxed against her palm, enjoying the touch. he shut his eyes and sighed again, holding her hand in place as she moved it upward to tangle in his hair.

"i'm just thinking about everybody," he said. "i guess i'm a little worried about being so far away at a time like this."

"i'm sure you have nothing to worry about," she replied confidently. "they're all very capable people."

gojo wanted to believe her, but after the call that he'd recieved, he knew that they were all way out of their depths without him.

"what if something goes wrong?"

"if something does happen, you and i can both go back immediately so that you can be where you need to be."

"you would go with me?" he was a little shocked to hear that she would be so comfortable with it. part of him was worried that she would become angry with him for dragging them back into the mess of it all, which was part of the reason that he was avoiding telling her the truth.

"of course," she said instantly. "i know i'm not the strongest as i am, but i don't want to leave your side if i can help it."

"even if that was the better option?"

y/n sighed back. "satoru, i wouldn't leave your side even if i knew that it would kill me." she leaned down to close the distance between them, pressing her lips to his for only a short moment. "because i love you."
