"i'm in so much trouble."
i tried not to push through people, but the sense of urgency that rang in my head made it difficult. i glanced at the silver watch on my right wrist, walking faster and faster as the minute hand glided across the face.
it was agreed last night that y/n and ii should meet again after i was finished with work. it was difficult to leave in any normal circumstance, but with the stunt that i pulled during the sister event, i was being watched by a lot of people. i was "too reckless to be trusted," or something.
my spirits were lifted when i caught a glance of the small shop down the street, and while i mentally prayed that she was still there, i sped up, caring less and less about the people that i pushed past. when i finally stopped in front of the shop. i took a deep breath and relaxed myself.
"c'mon, man. get it together. she's important to you now, so you've gotta show her how cool you are. you've gotta impress her." whispering words of encouragement to myself before walking in had been a strange experience for me, but it helped. i exhaled once more and pushed the door open. i heard a small bell ring followed by the kind greeting of the person working near the front. i greeted them back and my eyes gravitated towards the same corner that she sat in the first time.
she was there, as i'd hoped. her clothes had changed to gray jeans that matched her right eye and a tight and modest red shirt that matched her left. her glasses remained clean, and she still looked so... enigmatic.
i had no other choice but to approach her by then after she turned her head towards me with the sound of the bell. her cheeks went red, and her lips turned up into a smile. i had hoped that it was for me. she beckoned me over to her with her eyes and i too made my way to sit down in the same seat that i had sat in two weeks ago.
even as i tried to hide the slight anxiety that i felt, she could always see right through me.
"you don't have to be nervous. i don't bite," she joked. she teased me, but it helped me to work up a bit of confidence to joke back with her.
"ah, i wouldn't mind if you did, though." she rolled her eyes and scoffed.
"i'm sure of it."
"and anyways, i didn't think that you cleaned up so well, honey. all this, for me?"
she pouted and looked to the side. "i'll have you know that i always dress like this, not to mention that it's me in my casual clothes that won you over so easily." she looked back at me. "so what does that say about you?"
"if you're insinuating that i find you attractive no matter what you're in, you'd be absolutely correct, honey."
she frowned. "stop calling me that. it's weird."
"what would you rather me call you?"
"preferably, my name," she replied.
i thought about it for a minute. "yeah, but there are a lot of people who call you by your name." i grinned. "i want something only i can call you."
she shook her head. "you really are something else, satoru." i had expected a snarky remark from her calling me egotistical and strange, but she didn't. was she already getting used to me?
