Riley sat in the back of the impala in silence. She didn't even pay any attention to Sam and Dean, her mind was too busy trying to make sense of what was happening. Sam's dream had come true. She didn't even realise the car had stopped until Sam got out and slammed the door behind him. Riley heard Dean sigh but didn't move.

"You getting out or not?" Dean said, his tone rough.

Riley flinched slightly and hurried out of the car. She didn't even have the energy to fight with Dean right now. It wasn't until she walked around the other side of the car that she realised they were outside of a motel. Riley looked around and recognised the area instantly.

"Why are we here?" she asked, looking up at Sam, but Dean was the one to answer.

"It's too dangerous to go back to your dorm." Dean said as he pulled a bag out the trunk.

"What? Why?" Riley exclaimed.

"Because the son of bitch that killed Jess might go after Sam next." Dean said as if it was obvious.

"How do you know he won't find us here?" Riley asked, looking around again. "Loads of people stay here."

"You know this place?" Sam said, raising a brow at her.

Riley pursed her lips together and nodded her head. "Yeah, I uh, I stayed here once."

"Let me guess? Hook up that you didn't want your parents to know about?" Dean smirked at her.

"No, actually, not that it's any of your business." Riley glared at him.

"You didn't seem so concerned about personal business when you were interfering in ours." Dean returned her glare.

"Guys, enough!" Sam snapped at them both.

Riley lowered her head in embarrassment. She felt guilty that she was stood here bickering with Dean when Sam had just lost his girlfriend in such a brutal manner. And to make matters worse, Dean was right. Riley had been so concerned with Sam that she'd completely undermined the fact that just because  she was his best friend, did not mean that she was suddenly entitled to know everything about him.

"Sorry." Riley mumbled. "You're right, your business is your business.

Dean lifted up a false panel in the trunk and Riley's eyes opened wide. The bottom of the trunk was covered in all kinds of different weapons. Guns, knives, grenades, cannisters, bottles, and more.

"Okay I know I just said your business is yours, but what kind of mechanic carries this in his car?" Riley asked, looking up at Dean.

"An awesome one." Dean winked at her.

Riley decided to keep her mouth shut this time. She had a million questions but she also knew that Sam was in no position to answer them and it was very unlikely she'd get a serious answer from Dean. Instead, she silently watched Dean load weapons into a bag while Sam checked them into a room. She remained silent as she followed the brothers into the room and even when Sam and Dean started conversing with each other.

When she finally did speak, the response she got was not one she was expecting.

"If this guy is targeting Sam, why do I have to be here?"

"Because, princess, you're close to Sam, you could be a target too." Dean said. His voice was rough and had a hint of annoyance to it.

"Why would I be a target?" Riley creased her brows together.
