"Okay, thanks bye." Riley hung up the phone and sighed, letting her head drop onto the table. She heard the door open and sat up quickly, slamming the phone book shut and pushing it away from her.
Sam walked into the room, followed by Dean, and eyed her suspiciously.
"Hey." Riley said with a smile.
"Hi there." Sam said, looking at her curiously.
"Find anything?" Riley asked, her eyes flicking between the two.
"Yeah, a big steaming pile of nothing." Dean rolled his eyes.
"It's only been a week since the last case, something will come up soon I'm sure." Riley chuckled.
"Yeah, maybe." Sam said dismissively. "What about you, how are you holding up?"
Riley's smile dropped and she looked down at her hands and then back up at Sam.
"I'm okay." Riley shrugged.
"Really?" Sam raised a brow.
"I have to be." Riley nodded her head.
Since she'd visited her father, Riley had been distant and withdrawn. She'd often blank out and suddenly find either Sam or Dean staring at her, waiting for her to respond to something they'd said. Her father's words had impacted her more than she'd lead Sam or Dean to believe. And so, without Sam or Dean knowing, Riley had been contacting every person she knew to find out more about her history.
"The offer to smash his face in still stands." Dean said.
Riley couldn't stop that smile that tugged on the corner of her lips. "I appreciate that, but the answer is still no."
"You know where to find me when you change your mind." Dean shrugged and walked into the bathroom.
Sam sat down at the table beside Riley and sighed heavily.
"Still no sign of your Dad?" Riley guessed.
Sam shook his head. "I've contacted everyone I know. No ones heard from him."
"Sam, I hate to be the one to say this, but to me it sounds like he doesn't want to be found." Riley said cautiously.
"What do you mean?" Sam raised a brow.
"He can't be missing because he keeps sending you places to hunt. If he can send you coordinates to a case, then he can tell you where he is." Riley said.
Sam didn't seem to have anything to say to that. Riley felt guilty for saying it, but she couldn't shake the feeling that John was just sending the boys on a wild goose chase. She was worried for them, both of them. To make things worse, Dean came out of the bathroom, holding up his phone.
"Dad sent another case location."
"Of course he did." Sam muttered under his breath.
"What?" Dean scrunched his brows together.
"Nothing." Sam sighed. "Where?"
"I don't know, I'll check it out." Dean said, pulling out Sam's laptop and sitting on the bed.
He keyed in the coordinates and his eyes narrowed as he looked at the screen. "Well that's never a good sign."
"What is it?" Riley said, standing up and walking over to him. She sat down on the bed beside him and looked at the screen.
"The coordinates pin point us to an old asylum." Dean said.
Riley groaned and let her head drop onto Dean's shoulder. "Why can't we ever investigate somewhere fun like Disneyland?"
