January 17th.
Sirius didn't think it was possible for him to feel the feelings he's currently feeling. A mix of jealousy, anger, sadness, grief, and a sadistic note of humor.
But it is.
Especially because he checked the map early that morning after James left, only to see Annalee meet with Regulus.
It's even worse when she walks into charms, looking as perfect as ever. Only difference? Her hair's messed up, and she looks happy.
It's not that he doesn't want her to be happy, of course. It's just that he doesn't want her to be that kind of happy with his little brother of all people.
Sure, Regulus will probably wind up marrying Dorothy.
Sure, Annalee will probably wind up marrying a man much better than Sirius.
Sure, Sirius feels like he wants to die alone and get it over with.
Sure, he's the one that broke up with her.
Sure, he doesn't regret it for a second.
But that doesn't mean he has to be happy about it!
January 18th.
By the next day, the gossip had spread like wildfire. All founded in that Anna, Marlene, Alice, Dorcas and Lily had not been seen with the Marauders in two days.
"I heard that they broke up because Annalee cheated."
"I heard that it was Annalee's decision."
"I heard it was because Annalee got the Dark Mark."
The Prewetts even started a rumor for their and Anna's amusement which basically consisted of Sirius turning into a dragon and Annalee hexing him.
The rumors are all different. Except, they all agreed that Sirius and Anna are done.
The rumors are solidified on the 18th during the Slytherin versus Gryffindor quidditch game.
Andromeda, of course, is announcing.
"Welcome everybody on this beautiful Tuesday!" Andromeda says, wand at her throat to amplify her voice. "Today, we're watching the most serious game of the season: Gryffindor versus Slytherin! Obviously, Slytherin will win. But it'll be a good game!"
She introduces the players.
Annalee blocks more shots than normal, and Sirius only barely remembered to hit the bludgers away from his team.
Halfway through the game, Annalee loses focus. She's staring off into the crowd, looking at who-knows-what. Unfortunately, Sirius is looking at the same thing. Thereby, not paying attention to the bludgers. What are they both looking at? Why, Tom Riddle, of course.
A bludger swishes through the air. Annalee only barely looks up in time to miss it.
Sirius is zapped back to the game again.
He feels someone poking around his mind.
You see him too? Anna's voice sounds in his head.
Sirius catches her eye and nods. We have to play it cool, he thinks, hoping she's still using legilimency.
Why would we do that? she challenges. He caught us both off guard. I only realized he's here because I felt him probing my memories. He'll know everything we know. The best I could do was shield who the members of the D.A. are.
