This Is Why You Shouldn't Drink

Eliza

August had gotten tired at the beach and wanted to take a nap. She had wanted me to come with her, but I was sleeping at her place tonight so I thought a small break would be nice. Plus, I was not tired at all. James had been spamming me all day so I decided I would go to Wren's house with her while August napped. It was just Wren, James and I; Perri and Tau had not been invited. I didn't really know why though. For the first while we just talked about random things which made it even more confusing on why Perri and Tau weren't here.

"Okay so Eliza, earlier Christina asked us to hang out." Wren finally said. They had been avoiding the subject yet trying to bring it up at the same time.

"Oh, umm, why?" I asked. Christina was not the kind of girl that our group would ever like. I was surprised she had asked Wren and James to hang out. She was also not the type to like our group.

"I don't really know. It was really weird. It was us, Julia and her. It felt really forced and weird." James said and itched her arm.

"Really? I thought it was kind of fun." Wren shrugged. James rolled her eyes at Wren and looked back at me.

"We just talked about lame girl stuff like boys, you would have slit your throat." James joked and laughed a little. Wren nodded in agreement.

"It was chill though. But I have no idea why she invited us." Wren said and shrugged again.

"I don't know. She talked about Miles a lot. I thought it was something to do with him, but you weren't invited so it was weird." James said. I couldn't read her face.

"Does she know you guys are friends?" Wren asked.

"I would assume so." I said and mirrored James' expression. I guess Tau and Perri weren't invited because they couldn't care less about this Miles thing. I think Tau was starting to get annoyed at how intertwined our groups were right now. We sat in silence for another while until Wren changed the subject to Elijah, who had been acting weird lately.

After an hour Wren got another text from Christina.

"Guys, she texted me again. Oh wait, you guys are in this groupchat." She announced as she stared down at her phone. I grabbed my phone and looked at the message.

"Oh my god, why are so many people in this groupchat?" James announced. I scrolled through the contacts: Julia; Kelsey; Wren; James; me; Christina; Maya; Gaia; and Andrea. This whole group was just weird. I knew that Maya and Gaia were friends, but they didn't talk to Christina much. Julia was friends with Kelsey and both of them were kind of friends with Christina. All of these girls, besides Wren, Christina and I had slept with Miles. I couldn't tell if that was a coincidence or not. I read the text.

Christina: Hey girlies! I feel like we should have a girls' night tonight! I only ever hangout with boys and would love to hang with just girls for a change. My house at 8?

Kelsey: Sure!

Julia: Yes!!!

Maya: ok!

Andrea: umm, yes.

Gaia: ooo, sounds fun!

Wren: yessssss

I looked at Wren when I saw that she had committed.

"Wren?!" I said and looked at her. She put her hands up in defensive.

"It sounds fun!" She piped. To me this whole thing seemed suspicious. But I guess she didn't see the weird correlation like I did.
