A buzzing coming from across my room woke me up. I opened my eyes and squinted; Li always made a point of opening the blinds when he got out of bed, so the room was full of sunlight. I never knew why he did that, plus I was still sleeping so seemed kind of rude. The buzzing continued on my nightstand, so I rolled over in bed and grabbed the phone. It wasn't mine. Bright on the screen the name Carolina popped up. I looked at the time above the name; it was 10:35. When the call went away, I saw that she had called 13 times. Shit. I noticed some texts below all the missed calls.
Carolina: FUCKING ANSWER, YOU HAVE TO GO
Carolina: I am serious. Here is your plane ticket. I am expecting you.
Carolina: answer the bloody phone
Carolina: Do I have to fly out there and drag you out
What was happening? I crawled out of bed and grabbed Li's phone from the charger. Where was Li supposed to go? Why did he have to leave? I walked downstairs and saw Li staring at the wall and eating a bowl of cereal. The kitchen and living room were both clean. He must've cleaned the house when he got up. The floor creaked below my feet which caused Li to turn to look at me. He smiled when he saw me.
"You're up early." He spoke. I sat down beside him at the counter. He leaned in and kissed me on the cheek.
"Cause your fucking phone has been vibrating all morning." I said and slid his phone to him across the counter. He flipped it over and his eyes widened.
"Why is your sister spamming you?" I asked and grabbed his water to take a sip. He made a face. He was scrolling through the messages.
"And where are you going? What does she mean?" I asked, still confused.
"You read my texts." He stated.
"Yes, but I wasn't trying to be nosy the buzzing just woke me up and I thought it was my phone and I clicked on it. And obviously my eyes were drawn to the texts. Sorry." I felt kind of bad snooping, but it was not intentional.
"It's fine, don't worry about it. I am not mad." Li just shrugged. "I am not going anymore. She just is being dramatic. This is the longest time we have ever been apart, and she wants to see me. I had told her I would see her soon, but I haven't gone to visit her in a while." He shrugged again. Why did he keep shrugging?
"Is she British? Where does she live? You're not British." I said matter-of-factly because of the 'bloody'. I think I was over-analyzing his texts. He grinned a little and shook his head.
"No, it's a joke. A bad joke." Li shrugged it off. I was so confused. I was definitely overthinking all of this.
"Do you mind if I quickly take this?" Li asked me and started dialing her number on his phone.
"Go for it." I said and got up to get myself some cereal. Li stood up and I watched his back as he walked outside into my backyard while on the phone. He wasn't sweaty which meant he hadn't gone for a run this morning like usual. Maybe he felt weird showering here, even though he did shower here yesterday. I got myself some cereal and a glass of water and sat down at the counter to eat it. About ten minutes later Li walked back inside running a hand through his hair. His shirt lifted a little at the raise of his arms. My eyes fell to the bit of skin that was revealed below his belly button. I couldn't stop staring at the exposed lower part of his stomach and the light trail of hair going down into his sweats. He put his arms down and the shirt returned to cover him. My eyes went back to his and the smirk plastered across his face. He walked up to me and grabbed my jawline, kissing me harshly. I moved my hand onto his waist and trailed my hand to the waistband of his sweatpants. Right before I slipped my hand into his pants, he grabbed my wrist to stop me. He pulled away from the kiss.
