Part 2
Li
I fucked up. I looked over at Miles staring out the window silently. I had to call Carolina. I wanted to keep talking to him to get him to listen to me, but I had already pushed everything off so much. I still managed to lose Miles while being put in this awful situation. With my right hand I grabbed my phone from my pocket and started looking for Carolina's contact.
"Seriously? You smashed my phone but still have your own?" Miles rolled his eyes and slouched into his chair.
"I already told you, you are compromised." I said vaguely. I couldn't tell him more, but I hated telling him less.
"What the fuck does that mean? I don't understand why you involved me." He crossed his arms and refused to look at me. The phone rang.
"Can you connect this to the Bluetooth?" I handed the phone over to Miles and he nodded, clicking some buttons on the screen of the car.
"Hello?" Sounded through the speaker.
"Carolina. We have an issue." I awkwardly said. I knew she was going to lose her shit. I was supposed to leave weeks ago. And I had convinced her that I needed to stay but once that picture went public, I had to leave even more. But I didn't. And now here we were.
"Yeah, Li I am aware. Are you safe right now? I need you to get here safe so I can fucking kill you myself." She swore into the phone. I could hear her rage through the phone. I looked over at Miles who was glaring at me. He looked so cute when he was angry.
"Yeah, there is a bit of a complication. Uhh, is the jet ready at the location?" I asked. Miles was not supposed to be here with me. It complicated everything.
"What the fuck do you mean?" Carolina swore at me.
"I have Miles." I awkwardly said and looked over at Miles.
"Wait a second, you're telling me I am not supposed to be here? Why did you kidnap me then?" Miles said his eyebrows drawing together as he looked at me with rage.
"Yeah, I agree with the boy." Carolina calmly said into the phone. I was going to have to explain everything to Carolina in front of Miles and I didn't know how I felt about that. Or what Miles would think.
"They showed up at my house. Miles was over. If I didn't take him, they would've." I quickly said into the phone. Yes, I was being selfish. But it was also for his safety. Who knows what would have happened if I let them take him? I guess I could've told him to go with Arson.
"You should've let them." Carolina responded. Miles leaned his head against the cold window.
"They could've hurt him." I responded.
"Sorry but that's a risk you should've taken." She spoke. Miles looked at me with wide eyes.
"No. And he is here now so it's too late. I am taking him with me. For now, at least. He isn't safe going back. They will come for him." He was safe nowhere. I had stupidly involved him in this whole thing and now they would want to question him because of his unknown alliance with me.
"He would have been fine. They wouldn't have hurt him. You know Ivy Detroit would not allow that." Carolina continued to slander me. She was right, Ivy, or Hazel if you will, would not let her brother get hurt.
"Well, I didn't want him getting involved. Especially with them." I said in defense.
"That isn't yours to decide. Plus, now you have gotten him involved and you aren't comprehending that you made this so complicated. I can't ensure that we can protect Miles." Carolina went on. I threw my hands against the steering wheel.
