Chapter 2 - Sleeping Arrangements

The next morning on the way to breakfast Gally comes over to me and asks me what happened last night with Thomas. I start to smile but then remember that I agreed to keep what happened between Thomas and me, secret.

"Oh, nothing he's actually really boring he was just showing me where to get water and stuff in the woods."

"Oh ok!" Gally says then links his arms around my waist and walks with me to breakfast. Thomas glares and me but I just shrug. We eat in silence until Chuck runs over and asks if I want to come exploring with him. We walk around and he shows me the wall of names and stands with me while I carve my name into the wall while Chuck watches. After that, Chuck drags me over to his secret hangout spot, hands me a knife and teaches me how to carve wooden figures. We sit there for hours, while I'm carving my tongue hangs out of my mouth in concentration. Chuck points it out and we laugh about it together.

Later in the day I go up to the treehouse and sit up there with my legs dangling towards the ground. I stay there for a while writing in my diary and humming to myself. Newt comes up after a while and asks if I want to come and play a game with them, so I nod. We walk down to where all the remaining glade members were sat together, and we played would you rather. It took about half an hour until I got a question. My question was would you rather kiss Thomas or Gally. I looked around to see them looking at me hopefully and I realised that I couldn't answer that without hurting either of their feelings as I had a good friendship with both. I forfeited not wanting to choose and walked back to Thomas' hut and took a nap in his bed. His sheets and pillow smelt like him and it made me relax and I fell asleep in seconds.

I woke up a couple of hours later from the best sleep I could ever remember to see Thomas sitting at the bottom of his bed, "You know if you wanted to get into my bed you could've just asked" he says with a smirk. I throw his pillow at me and he starts to tickle me. I shriek and try to tickle him back, so he pins my hand to the bed, silencing me. I stare up into his light brown eyes and start to lean in when the door opens and Gally comes in. "Thomas quick, Minho hasn't come back out of the maze yet... um, am I interrupting something?" Thomas gets up and runs through the door. Gally looks at me for an explanation and I shake my head. He holds the door for me, and we walk to the maze entrance together in silence. We look inside the maze seeing no one and then when the doors start to close, we see Minho dragging one of the gladers, Henry out of the maze. We all know he isn't going to make it, so we shout for him to leave Henry and run out, but he doesn't. All of a sudden Thomas runs inside and I scream and try to run after him but Gally has a hold on my waist. The last thing I see is Thomas staring at me before the doors close...
