After spending a glorious night in my new hut with Gally I dazedly walk to the kitchen to help Frypan with breakfast. I left Gally still snuggled up in my bed, he looked too peaceful to wake up. After chatting to Frypan, we decide to make scrambled eggs with the eggs that Chuck collected yesterday. Once it's ready, I ring the bell to signify breakfast being ready and watch as the boys stumble out of their hammocks and make a dash to the kitchen where they collect their plate and find a place to sit. In the corner of my eye, I can see Gally walking over, he's obviously just woken up and is rubbing his eyes and fixing his hair on the way. He locks eyes with me and we both smile at each other, my heart races as he gets closer.
"Morning Bambi, how did you?" We share a knowing smile and my face starts to turn the slightest shade of red.
"Meh, wasn't my best sleep ever to be honest." I look at Gally and see a mischievous look starting to appear on his face. "Whatever you are thinking of doing, you better not. I haven't eaten yet and I am definitely too hangry to put up with it." I watch as Gally walks into the kitchen, plates himself a huge double serving of eggs and then leaves telling me to stay where I am. I comply and finish serving the gladers their breakfast. As much as I love that the gladers have manners, I am so bored of hearing pleases and thank you. Suddenly, I feel a pair of strong arms pick me up and throw me over their shoulder.
"Put me down Gally!" I say full of laughter.
"Never, I'm never letting you go." I laugh at his cuteness until I start to feel a little lightheaded.
"Gals, all the blood is rushing to my head, you need to put me down." He gently puts me down and looks at me worriedly.
"Are you okay?" He asks.
"Yeah, I just haven't eaten yet, I feel perfectly fine now. Don't worry I'm okay Gals." He wraps his arms around me and hugs me.
"I'm sorry, I wasn't thinking." He mumbles into my shoulder.
"Hey, it's not your fault. Now, where are you taking me?" He grabs my hand and we walk over to the clearing where we shared our first kiss.
"I thought we could eat our breakfast here, I brought the plate of eggs here. It could be like a little date." I look up at him in awe.
"Oh my god, Gally! I love it, how did I get so lucky?" We sit down and eat our eggs in silence until I start a conversation with him.
"How come you aren't out working today?"
"Alby gave us the day off because we worked so well yesterday, and we have to wait for the Creators to send us some more supplies. You have lunch off today right?" I nod.
"Yeah, Frypan decided that we only need one person making lunch, so we are taking it in turns now. Why?"
"I just wanted to know if we get to spend the whole day together until you have to make dinner. I'm so happy that we get to, I love spending time with you. Thanks for letting me spend last night in your hut." I take his hand and hold it.
"No thank you for keeping me company." I smile at him, "You're the best Gally, I wish people could see the real you." He cocks his head at me confused.
"The real me?"
"Yeah, I mean when you're with me you are sweet and vulnerable but with the others, you are stern and strict. Although, you are going soft now that you're spending most of your time with me." I say cheekily.
"If I wasn't stuffed with the eggs that you so expertly cooked, I would be chasing your sweet ass all over the glade for that comment." I laugh.
"So, you only like me for my ass then?" I ask jokingly.
"You have no idea what your ass does to me however, I love everything about you. I'd love you even if you didn't have an ass." He blushes a bit and I shift closer to him. We look into each other's eyes and start to lean in but stop when we hear whistling coming in our direction. We stand up and collect the dirty dishes. On our way out of the clearing, we bump into Chuck.
"Oh, hi Holly, hey Gally, I didn't realise you were here. I was just coming to carve but I can go if you two are busy."
"No go ahead Chuck, have fun. Once you're done, I'd love to see what you make. Come and find me yeah?" Gally says to him. Chucks face is full of surprise at the warmth in Gally's voice and he nods before sitting down in the clearing and whistling again. Gally takes my hand and leads me into the open field that makes up most of the glade. He lays down and I copy him and place my head on his chest. He puts his arms around me and pulls me closer to him.
"What can you see?" I ask Gally.
"Hmmm, I can see grey clouds. That's weird its never rained here, do you want to take shelter?"
"Not really, if it rains, I want to stay out here and goof around with you. But if you want to take shelter, I'll come with you."
"As much as I'd love to have fun with you out here, I'm a little worried about the rain. Let's head back to your hut." He stands up and puts his hand out for me. I take it and he helps me up, we walk slowly towards my hut and as we get closer to the homestead, the rain comes bucketing down. We change our route and run into the homestead.
"Alby, what's happening?" We hear Newt asking.
"I'm not sure, this has never happened before. The runners are still out there. I'm sure they will turn around now though. Has anyone been touched by the rain?" Gally and I raise our hands.
"It doesn't burn or anything, I'm pretty sure it's harmless. The runners only set off 30 minutes ago, it won't be long until they are back." Gally says sternly. We all sit down and take cover under the roof of the homestead until we hear shouting coming from the maze. I run out, Gally shouts after me but I ignore him. I see the shapes of people running from the maze towards us but there is something not right, there are three people instead of two, and the middle person is being carried by the two boys. I run towards but someone holds me back. I look around to see Gally holding onto me, the other gladers have gathered outside as well.
"They have a girl Gally."
"What? What do you mean, the box hasn't come up with a new greenie yet?"
"Exactly, so where did she come from and why is she here?" Suddenly, a loud noise rings in my ears. I scream out and slump to the floor. My vision goes cloudy and I can barely make out Gally crouched down screaming something that I can't make out. I fall into darkness and am left with one thought.
Olivia. The girl's name is Olivia and I know her, but how?
