Bucky's POV

"James Buchanan Barnes!"

"I hate when you call me that-" I turned around to face Y/n her face was full of anger, but also sadness, and fear? Sometimes this girl was impossible to read.

"What's wrong love?" I asked walking over to her trying to comfort her, she pushed away when I tried to hug her, she was definitely mad.

She looked up to me, her eyes started to fill with tears, what did I do to her?

"I can't believe you," was all she let out before bursting into tears. I had only ever seen her cry when she was at her brother's funeral, what the hell happened.

"Hey, what's wrong, what did I do?" she fell to the ground and I fell with her, her head was buried into my chest, it was starting to wet my shirt as she sobbed unable to say anything without gasping for air. I looked up at Steve, he was watching the whole thing.

"You- you got drafted and didn't even tell me" was all she let out and continued to cry, how did she know? Oh wait, my best friend is Steve Rogers.

I sat Y/n on the couch and gave her a glass of water, Steve was sitting at the table picking at his potatoes when I went to sit with him,

"So, just out of curiosity, how the actual hell did Y/n find out about the war?" He looked up from his plate, frankly it wasn't a hard question to answer.

"I'm so so sorry Buck, I just- I thought she would have known by now"

"I told you I would tell you when I told her"

"At least she knows"

"Well I had a few better ideas to break the news, none of which had you involved"

"I don't think I want to know about those ideas"

"Well thanks to you, you won't have too"

I patted him on the back and walked to Y/n, her face was red and puffy, she had a blanket wrapped around her shoulders as she sat on the couch listening to the radio. There was talk already about the war, and everything that was going on. I sat next to her and wrapped my arm around her, and pulling her close she rested her head on my shoulder, how could I leave her.

How could I leave this.

"How long have you known?" she whispered

"A few weeks"

"You should have told me"

"I know"

Her voice was low and quiet, she sounded heart broken, I had hurt her, I wish I didn't have to leave her, but what choice did I have?

"I promise you, I'll be back" I told her

"You promise?" she repeated back

"With all my heart"

She fell asleep on the couch later that night, I carried her to my car and took her back to my home. I was going to spend every second with this girl, I made a promise that I would come back but anything could happen.

Notice how I named the chapters :)
