Since you and Steve came out of the ice, many events had taken place. Being that Steve Rogers wasn't just a normal soldier, he got a lot of attention from a lot of people. He became an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D, an avenger, he knew actual gods, like Thor, he fought gods, like Loki the god of mischief. He knew people like Tony Stark who was supposedly a god himself. Everyone praised the Starks. And in spite of it all, you never left Steve's side. You were his partner in crime. You had become an avenger yourself, the dark mysterious man with an eye patch, whose name was Nick Fury thought that you would be perfect for the team, being that you were practically a soldier in ww2, and fought the leader of HYDRA. With extra training you would fit right in.
Even after 3 years, you still couldn't remember what Steve had said to you the moments before your plane crashed forcing you into the ice for so many years. When he told you he loved you. It was all a blur still to you. But somehow Steve remembered, he just never told you. Or anyone for that matter, not even his new best friends.
You adjusted pretty well to this new, more advanced life. It was all very surreal at first, but you got used to it, even enjoyed it. Everything was just easier now. In some ways it felt like a fresh start. Before you had never really been one for the spotlight, but something about being best friends with people like Natasha Romanoff or Thor changed your perspective. Maybe it was Bucky? You would try not to think about Bucky as much now, but he was always still implanted in your brain, like a tattoo. Sometimes you would have nightmares, flashbacks more or less to when Bucky fell off that train some years ago. You had started to move on, he wasn't your main topic of interest anymore. Right after you came out of the ice, if anything at all reminded you of Bucky, even the smallest things you would point it out to Steve, he got tired of it after a while, and if he had gotten over Bucky, so could you. He was gone, and that was years and years ago. It was time to move on.
