Everyone was so happy that Lauren was home after three years of working out in LA for her music.

"Y/N will be here with Lana any minute!" Clara exclaimed.

"Wait, why does she have Lan-"

"Y/N!" Everyone grew excited at the sight of the woman.

Lauren's eyes immediately scanned over the features of her old best friend.

She was hot. She got hot.

"What? Surprised, Jauregui?" Y/N asked, unimpressed with the woman as she set the three year old on her feet to walk to her grandma.

"I am." Lauren responded.

"What? Did you expect me to just up and leave the family?" Y/N chuckled, dryly.

"Oh, Lauren you know me better than that. I guess I just don't know you, though." Everyone went silent at that and Y/N walked passed the girl, eyes on the little girl who now found interest in the pool.

Lauren deserved that. She did leave her newborn daughter with her family for three years, not even daring to answer a test or call from her best friend.

"Lana, sweetheart do you want your juice?" Y/N asked the little girl, watching her rush toward her.

"Es, Mommy!" Lauren's heart dropped at this.

Y/N's POV
I gave my daughter her juice, making sure she was settled down on her chair correctly.

Yes, my daughter. After Lauren up and left I took it upon myself as a 19 year old woman to adopt Lana.

Now I'm 22 and still caring for the girl.

"She's been here since the beginning. She was the one to help us through our money problems." Clara spoke to Lauren, not thinking I could hear.

"She's changed a lot over the years. She used to be so happy, so carefree. But now she's bordered up herself and doesn't let anyone in." I got up with the sleepy child in my arms, taking her inside for a nap.

"Mommy..." Lana spoke through her tiredness.

"Yes, baby?" I asked, laying her in her bed.

"Sing?" I looked around, making sure no one could hear.

"Okay." I nodded and she smiled softly at that.

"I remember tears streaming down your face when I said, "I'll never let go." When all these shadows almost killed your light." I felt tears in my eyes as I looked down at my daughter.

She had been through so much. She was still struggling to hold on, but no one knew this. A few months ago Lana was born premature which effected her greatly.

Till this day she has trouble breathing, eating, and even focusing.

"I remember you said, "don't leave me here alone." But all that's dead and gone and passed tonight." I sang, running my fingers through her dark hair.

"Just close your eyes, the sun is going down. You'll be alright, no one can hurt you now. Come morning light, you and I'll be safe and sound." I traced over her features, memorizing every inch.

The doctors predicted that she wouldn't last another year if she kept having such harsh panic attacks. With every wink of sleep she got, she woke with a terrible nightmare that caused one. She was afraid of being alone, terrified of being abandoned.

"Don't you dare look out your window, darling everything's on fire. The war outside our door keeps raging on. Hold onto this lullaby even when the musics gone, gone." I wiped my tears away, looking down at my daughter's sleeping form.

"I didn't know you could sing." Immediately I switched emotions.

"And I didn't know you didn't know how to knock." I went to close the door but she stopped me.

"Y/N, please..."

"What? Give you another chance so that you can just up and leave again, Lauren? Do us all a favor and leave, but this time don't come back. We were fine without you." I spat out the lies so easily, shutting the door in her face.

A few minutes later I was startled by my daughter's fast breathing and cries.

"Hey, hey, Mommy's here baby." I immediately brought her into my arms.

"Breathe, Lana. Come on, breathe baby." I tried to calm her.

"Lana, I need you to breathe baby. In and out." I tried my best but it didn't seem to be working.

She got worse and tears filled my eyes as I tried to calm her with her inhaler.

Nothing was working.

"Y/N-"

"Call an ambulance! Now, Lauren!" I pressed my daughter up against my chest, trying to get her calm.

"I'm right here, baby. Mommy isn't going anywhere." The tears fell freely as she gripped my thighs. I knew she was in pain.

Soon enough paramedics were bringing my daughter into the ambulance and I was inside with them.

Please God, help my daughter. Her heart can only take so much.

I silently prayed, tears falling down my cheeks.

We were soon at the hospital where I was sat in the waiting room, anxiously.

"She's going to be okay, Y/N."

"How do you know that?!"

"How do you fucking know that Lauren?! You were never there for her! You don't know how much she can take! While you were out there living your goddamn dream Lana was slowly dying! This is all because of you!" I shoved her, running into the bathroom and sobbing into my hands.

"I-I can't lose my baby.... please don't take her, God." I cried out, feeling like my heart had been torn out of my chest.

"Y/N, honey." Clara came inside, gently lifting me up.

"I-I-"

"Shh, you don't have to say anything, honey." She just held me, holding me close as I cried into her chest.

It felt like an eternity until they called us.

I was the first to enter...

There laid on the hospital bed was my little girl...
She was hardly recognizable with all the machinery hooked up to her.

Tears formed in my eyes at the sight.

"Baby..." I gently grabbed her hand.

"Hey, Nana.... it's Mommy, baby." I choked out, the nickname coming out so naturally.

"I know you're hurting baby, I know it hurts..." I broke down in tears once again.

"I love you so much, baby."

(I'm crying just writing this shit)

That's when the heart rate monitor began to beep.

"We're losing her!"

"Get her out of here!" I was shoved out of the room.

"LANA!" I fell to my knees, sobbing into my hands.

Immediately Clara held me, holding me as I cried.

That was the night that I lost my baby girl.

As soon as we left the hospital I was at a bar, drinking until I puked.

"Y/N...." Lauren sighed, holding my hair back.

"Come on, let's get you into bed." She lifted me up, carrying me to bed.

I was laid down on the soft surface, immediately relaxing.

"I'm never leaving you again." I heard as my eyes drooped closed.
