Soldier's war
Overview: You and Lauren are childhood friends from opposing countries and haven't seen each other in years. When you get deployed for the new war you find her.
I was searching through the abandoned houses when I froze, seeing those familiar green eyes.
We both froze, eyes staring in disbelief. We were trained to hate each other, to kill each other but she made no move to shoot.
She was their leader.
"Y/N!"
"No, Hussy!" I couldn't stop myself, shooting the man in the arm.
"What the fuck?!" He cursed out in our language.
He was aiming at her.
"Put the gun down!" I shouted back in our shared language.
"What?!"
"Put the gun down, Hussey!" He did as told and watched me kick it away from him.
"Go, Lauren. Go north, my people are headed west." She nodded and ran off, Hussey confused as to how I knew English.
"You're a fucking double agent!" He grabbed his gun and soon enough I was grabbed by my men.
I was tied to a tree, the men of my country stripping me down to my undergarments.
"You fucking disgrace!" They all took turns beating me.
I was limp against the ropes, accepting my death.
Our commander began dousing me in gasoline.
He drowned me in it, making me gag and choke on the foul liquid.
"Fucking bitch!" He lit a match and that's when the men from Lauren's side began to strike.
The fire got closer and closer to me.
"No! Someone shoot her down!" Hussey shouted.
I felt two bullets dislodge into my thigh.
The heat of the fire was burning my skin and I was quickly cut down and taken further away.
When the gunshot sounds were just in the distance the woman laid me down on the dirt, rushing to aid my wounds.
"You shouldn't have done that." She cursed me, trying to stop the bleeding.
"What was I supposed to do?" I asked, my skin beginning to pale.
"You were supposed to shoot me." I chuckled weakly at that, an overwhelming tiredness filling my body.
"Was I? I'm sorry." My body grew cold.
She successfully got the bullets out and stitched me up.
"You're going to be okay." After an hour or two a loud siren sounded.
Lauren's lips curved into a small smile.
"We won." She lifted me with ease, bringing me to their base where I got professional help.
"I'm not going to be safe back at home." I sighed.
"You're coming with me."
"Those are orders." She finished off, sitting beside me.
"How many men down?" I asked, using my crutches to get to the medical unit.
"27 wounded, maam." I nodded at the cadet.
"I'll take you to the base. There's more supplies there." A guy intervened.
"How do we know it's not a trap, General?" He asked.
Lauren chuckled at this.
"If she wanted us dead, Mendez. She would have done it already." Lauren helped me into the vehicle.
I gave the man directions and Lauren watched me, noticing how much I had changed over the years.
I lead them to the empty base and showed them to the supply area.
They loaded up the vehicles and Lauren's voice startled me.
"You know, even after all these years I still haven't gotten over how in love I was with you." I turned around to look at the Cuban.
"Why do you think I saved your ass?" I asked, punching her shoulder before helping her men.
With word getting out that Lauren's side had indeed won we were sent to the actual military base in the United States.
All of the people seemed to treat me as royalty for saving their leader.
Lauren and I were able to go home.
I was finally able to relax.
I was reading a book outside in Lauren's garden when a hand landed on my shoulder.
Immediately I flinched, my eyes meeting those beautiful green orbs.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to-"
"It's okay, Lo. Its going to be awhile to that goes away." She sighed and I felt her eyes graze over my form.
"You look so much different out of uniform." I closed the book.
"Different how?"
"You look.... relaxed, comfortable." I smiled, watching the woman sit on my lap.
I happily let her snuggle into me.
The feeling of her warm body against mine calmed the never ending anxiety I felt.
I sighed, feeling her run her fingers through my hair.
"You're not going back." My eyes met her's.
"What?"
"I'm not letting you go back."
"Then you're not going back either." My hand landed on her forearm.
"Y/N, that's not your place to say." Anger filled my body.
"You're staying here, that's an order, Y/N." I stood up, making her sit in my seat.
"You don't get to order me to do anything! You are not my Commander nor are you my General! If you are going than so am I! I knew the risks of this before I joined and I know them now! So what if I die-" warm lips met mine and I froze.
I relaxed against the Cuban, letting my hands drop to her hips.
Her arms were wrapped around my neck, her thumb gently stroking my cheek.
When we parted for air she looked into my eyes.
"You can't leave me again, Y/N. Not this time, not ever again. Do you understand me?"
"I won't you if you promise to stay." She bit her bottom lip.
"I'm a general, Y/N. I have to-"
"Bullshit!" She stood, surprised at my outburst.
"That's bullshit and you know it! They will be fine without us! But I won't be without you, Lauren. Promise me you'll stay." Tears formed in my eyes and she sighed, cupping my cheek.
"I promise."
"I promise." I confirmed on my behalf and we just stood there for the longest time, foreheads rested together in a calm type of intimacy.
