Lauren didn't know what to do the second she found the binder in her daughter's laundry.

(The child is G!P)

The girl was 17, she was still in high school while Lauren was on and off of tour.

The woman would leave the girl with her grandma for at least 9 months for tour and then an extra 2 for traveling to be featured on other artist's works.

She hadn't seen the girl in over 7 months and she missed her.

She had just gotten home and was doing the laundry when she found the binder.

At first she didn't know what it was, so she had to look it up.

When she read the articles online, she immediately knew what was going on.

But she had no experience with this, how the hell could she miss the signs?

The child got home at 5 in the evening which was a bit off, getting dropped off by a guy her age.

Lauren saw them exchange a kiss before parting and immediately pretended not to be watching when the girl entered the house.

"Mom?"

"Hey, Gracie... baby we need to talk,"

"What? You just got home, what could have I possibly done wrong already- fucking shit," the girl cussed out when she saw the chest binder her mother had found.

"I-I can explain,"

"Gracie, baby I'm not mad,"

"N-No, it was for a play at school and I-"

"Gracie!" Lauren cupped her daughter's cheek, making the girl tear up.

"I-I didn't want you to find out this way...."

"Grayson, bubs. You home?" Clara walked in, immediately freezing when she saw Lauren.

"Shit,"

"Mom, you knew?"

"I-Uh..."

The girl felt this was too much to handle and ran upstairs to her room, locking herself inside.

Lauren sighed at this, feeling tears form in her eyes.

"H-How long has she- he been out?" The woman corrected herself, quickly.

"He's been out since you first left him with me, Lauren..."

"What do you mean?"

"It wasn't a secret, he never liked girl things he never wanted to wear girl clothes. So all I did was give him a gentle push in the right direction and he slowly found himself,"

"So you knew this whole time?"

"I was going to tell you, I was, I promise. But you were never home long enough for the talk," Clara explained, making the woman realize just how much she missed out on.

Her child was grown up, turning eighteen in a few days and graduating in a week.

"Does he plan on transitioning?"

"Yes. And I plan on helping him," Lauren nodded her head, biting her bottom lip.

"Are you mad," Clara broke the silence between them.

"At him, no. At myself, yes," she answered, regretting leaving her child for so long.

"You can fix things, Lauren. Just don't leave him again. Stay, stay and make amends,"

"You know I can't, Mom," the Cuban sighed, rubbing her hand over her face.

"When do you leave?"

"The day after his birthday,"

"Then don't come back,"

"What?" Lauren's eyes shot up to her mother.

"If you're going to leave him again, don't come back. You've done enough harm leaving only to come back for a few days. He'd be better off without the pain," Clara glared at her daughter, not believing how she would put her job before her child.

"Mom, you can't possibly mean that,"

"Better yet, leave as soon as you can. I've raised him and I'll continue to raise him," Clara was speaking the truth, deciding that her daughter needed to hear it.

"Gray, honey," she called out, going upstairs to go console her grand baby.

She found him sitting on his bed, his boyfriend FaceTiming on his laptop.

"Do you want me to pick you up?"

"No, I'm fine. I'll see you tomorrow, okay? I've got to go,"

"Alright, I love you,"

"I love you too," Grayson smiled at this, shutting his laptop.

"Everything okay, bub?"

"I guess so. Is mom leaving again?"

"No," the both of them looked over to see Lauren leaning on the doorframe.

"I'm not leaving again, ever,"

"What?" Grayson sat up.

"I settled things with my boss and I'll only be working from home from now on. No tours or anything, just my work here,"

"Mom, you didn't have to do that,"

"Yeah, I did. Look, Grayson,"

The boy blushed when he heard his mom call him by his name for the first time.

"I love you and I'll always love you. If this is who you are, then I'll love my baby boy the same way I loved my baby girl. I'll help you through everything, I'm not going anywhere this time,"

Lauren wrapped her arms around her son, holding him close.
