Sirius was like a kid at Christmas when the day came that Sirius and Remus would return to Hogwarts. 'Moony! We're going back to Hogwarts!' He screeched, dragging a trunk downstairs behind him. Sirius was actually going to miss this place, but right now it was chaos. Weasley kids were apparating in and out, searching for spell books and clothes, Harry was running around like a madman trying to find his robes, and Sirius was helping make the chaos. Of course Remus was ready. He'd been ready at seven o'clock. Sirius stopped tying Ginny's shoes to the table leg and smiled softly at Remus, before charging off to levitate a sock out of Fred's reach.
'Sirius, love, leave the kids to pack, eh?' Remus said, coming up beside him. Sirius pouted and dropped the sock. 'Mooooony! Help me paaaack!' Sirius whined, snapping open the trunk and shoving a pile of clothes in it. 'You're hopeless.' Remus sighed, snatching the trunk from Sirius' arms. Sirius grinned and kissed the tip of Remus' nose. 'Love you.' He smiled. Remus grinned back, then began collecting more of Sirius' clothes. Sirius watched him, a smile playing on his lips.
'HARRY! HERMIONE! GET YOUR TRUNKS DOWN HERE, WE'RE LEAVING!' Sirius yelled, grasping for Remus' hand. Harry and Hermione made far more noise than necessary coming down the stairs, giggling and shoving each other out the way until they hit the bottom. 'We're gonna be late.' Harry said in alarm, shoving his pocket watch in Sirius' face. Sirius pushed it away, pulling a face. 'We're going to use apparition, kids.' Sirius winked, holding out his spare hand to Harry. Harry grabbed Hermione's hand first, then gripped onto Sirius'. Sirius nodded to each person, then gave Remus' hand a quick squeeze before spinning the four into thin air.
'Right, you two will be alright?' Sirius asked anxiously, pulling an abandoned trolley from the side of the car. 'Yep, see you two at school.' Harry dragged Hermione through the wall, not looking back at Sirius or Remus. 'Blimey.' Remus said, squeezing Sirius' hand. Sirius squeezed back, then apparated him and Remus to Hogwarts. 'Still can't believe we didn't know about this.' Sirius said, swinging his and Remus' arms.
When Sirius and Remus found out anyone written in the staff book could apparate into Hogwarts Sirius had been so mad. 'The biggest prank, Moony! We missed out on the hugest prank in the world!' Sirius had repeated over and over again. Although Remus had pretended to be exasperated, Sirius knew he felt exactly the same way. Sirius had apparated them near the Quidditch field, because he wanted to walk with Remus first. 'What if students catch on?' Sirius asked, resting his head against Remus as they walked. Remus' arm automatically wrapped itself round Sirius' waist. 'Then we have nothing to be ashamed of.' Remus kissed Sirius' hairline softly, sending shivers down Sirius' spine.
As the new transfiguration assistant, that meant Sirius would be spending a lot more time with Minerva, which he didn't mind. Remus would be the charms teacher, or so Sirius thought, so that would be ok. As they walked up the steps to the castle, Remus and Sirius broke apart and went back to holding hands instead. When the doors opened Sirius felt like he'd just received all the Christmas gifts in the world, and by the look on Remus' face, he did too. 'It's so good to be back.' Sirius breathed, squeezing Remus' hand for the hundredth time that day. 'Know how you feel.' Remus muttered, and Sirius took his first step into the castle. Neither Remus or Sirius talked on the way to their room, both absorbed in their own minds, remembering things from their school days that either made them laugh, or bought tears to their eyes.
They walked through the corridor where James had fallen flat on his face trying to flirt with Lily, and both men suppressed laughter. They walked past the Defence classroom, where Marlene had stood up to the old paedophile teacher. They walked past the library, where Sirius and Remus had their first kiss. Sirius stopped first, and, letting go of Remus' hand, strolled into the library. He could hear Remus on his heels, and then dragged out a chair in the very corner of the library, tucked away where no one could see. Sirius motioned for Remus to sit down, and he did, then perched himself onto the desk before kissing Remus deeply. 'Remember?' Sirius murmured against Remus' lips. Remus let out a soft chuckle, and broke away. 'We need to get unpacked before the kids get here.' Remus pointed out, as Sirius slid down onto his lap. Sirius frowned, but jumped up all the same. 'Come on then, Moony.' He said in a sing-song voice, holding out his hand. Remus clasped it, and Sirius skipped along, dragging Remus behind him.
