I believe in you...

Ed opens his eyes to another rare bright, sunny day in usually cloudy and gray Gotham. The sunlight filters through the lavender curtains. He looks down at the small, birdlike man curled up next to him, still sound asleep.

My little Penguin... Ed thinks to himself as he watches him sleep, Oswald's head on his chest.

Oswald stirs, yawning as he slowly wakes up in Ed's warm embrace. He opens his eyes and smiles fondly.

"Morning, Eddie..." Oswald says warmly, snuggling up closer.

"Morning, Ozzie." Ed says warmly, pulling him closer.

"I can't believe the election is tonight. God, I'm nervous." Oswald says quietly, oozing anxiety and nervousness.

"Don't be so worried. I know you'll win, because this city loves you. I cannot be bought but I can be stolen with one glance, I'm worthless to one but priceless to two, what am I?" Ed says warmly, smiling down at Oswald.

"I don't know." Oswald says after several moments.

"I'll tell you the answer later. Let's get dressed." Ed says warmly, getting out of bed and walking over to the closet.

"Ugh, I hate mornings." Oswald says, dragging himself out of bed.

"Mmm...bet you don't hate them when you spend them with me." Ed says warmly, pulling Ozzie against him. They were completely naked, having slept that way after a night of, well, sexual activity.

After they got dressed and had breakfast, it was off to the last day of Oswald's campaign. Honestly, Ed was a tad nervous about Butch. The man had practically been replaced by Ed.

At about 6:00 PM, the election coverage begins. Oswald is a little behind to begin with, but ends up leading with 35% of the vote. That looney Aubrey had 15% BTW.

Nearing the end of the election special, Butch snapped, pulling a gun on Ed. Oswald stands between them, shocked and confused.

"Butch, what the hell is going on?!" Oswald shrieks.

"He went and took back the money from the election runners. He's trying to ruin the election!" Butch yells, glaring at Ed.

"Seriously?! Ed, you are my... friend." Oswald says quietly in shock, still nervous about letting anyone know about their relationship "Give me one good reason why I shouldn't let him kill you where you stand!"

"About 30 witnesses..." Ed says calmly, leaning against the doorjamb

"I don't care!" Oswald yells, infuriated.

"And that." Ed says warmly, smiling and looking at the TV.

Cobblepot wins!

"I won." Oswald says in shock and awe "I can't be bought, but I can be stolen with one glance. I'm worthless to one, but priceless to two..." Ed's smile widens as Oswald repeats the riddle.

"Love." Oswald says shakily, staring up at Ed. Oswald smacks Butch's gun away.

"If I had just stood by and let you steal the election, you never would have known."

"They love me." Oswald says warmly, smiling like a lunatic.

"Not as much as I love you." Ed says warmly, smiling down at his little bird. Oswald's eyes widen in shock.

"You what?" He says in disbelief and awe.

"The riddle had a double meaning. They love you, but I love you more. I love you more than I've loved anything or anyone, Oswald." Ed says warmly, walking closer to Os. Oswald starts breathing shakily as Ed leans close to his face.

"There's about 30 witnesses, remember?" Oswald says quietly, chuckling.

"I don't care. I believe in you, Oswald. Even when you don't believe in yourself. That's why I knew you could win the election without buying it. Because you are enough on your own. You don't need to bribe anyone just to get love and approval. You already get it from me." Ed says, reaching up and stroking Oswald's cheek.

"I love you too." Oswald says quietly, barely above a whisper.

"A little louder, maybe?" Ed says warmly.

"I love you." Oswald says warmly, smiling up at his Ed.

"Good." Ed says warmly, pulling Oswald into a heated, passionate kiss.

The next day, their picture is in all the newspapers and all over the news. Harvey nearly lost his danish when he picked up the gotham gazette left on his desk.

"Gah, I should have known Nygma and Cobblepot were...eh, a little fruity." Harvey says, downing something in his flask.

"You know, the day Barnes dragged Cobblepot into the holding cell there, I had just been asking Nygma about him. Nygma said, point blank, 'you want to know the nature of my relationship with him?'. The signs were there, just couldn't see em." Jim says, looking at the newspaper.

"Yes, please get that image away from me. Gah, if I ever get shot, make sure that's not the last thing I see." Harvey says.

"Noted." Jim says, sipping his coffee.
