Better than revenge part 3

I wake in my bed, feeling only minor aches throughout my body. I look around and eventually find Edward curled beside me with his head on my stomach.

"Ed?" I croak, my mouth dry.

"Oswald...thank God you're awake..." He says quietly.

"What?" I say quietly, not able to fully believe him.

"I had no idea...is it true? You're pregnant?" He says quietly, looking like he's about to cry.

"I hope I still am..." I say quietly.

"The doctor will be here soon..."

"And what exactly are you gonna tell her?"

"I told her over the phone that Butch Gilzean beat the crap out of you for betraying him and replacing him. It's believable."

A few minutes later, the doctor arrives.

"Hello, Mr Cobblepot. Let's see if everything is ok." She says quickly, setting up the portable ultrasound thingy quicker than before. She pulls my pajama top up and puts the gel on my skin. She positions the probe and I take a deep breath, praying to whatever God can hear me that my little baby is okay.

I have never been so happy to hear that little fluttering heartbeat.

I can hear Ed let out a relieved gasp. He grasps my hand tightly. I look up at him and his face is wet with tears.

"I love you so much Oswald..." He says quietly, looking at me in a way he never has before. I turn my attention back to the little blip on the screen.
I don't care how hard this will be. It's going to be worth all the pain in the world.

And it was worth it. Completely.

7 months later our little blip was born. A beautiful little baby girl named Marie Cobblepot-Nygma.

I love her more than anything else in the world. Even Edward. But I can tell Ed loves her just as much. Despite everything that we went through to get here, I wouldn't trade it for the world.

And you know what made it better?

Ed asked me to marry him.

I obviously said yes!

Our little girl is so beautiful. She has my green eyes and Ed's brown hair, along with his nose and ears.

She was a beautiful little girl. Our little Enigma...
