Eight...

"Well..." She began.

Efe narrated everything to him, including how she got information from her doctor about her past. It wasn't much though because her mother didn't give the doctor a lot of information on what happened all those years ago. The doctor only guessed it was something big because of the amount of money her fake mother was willing to pay. It was a 'No Questions Asked' job. Ngozi's work was mainly just to watch Efe until their plans were in motion and alert them if there was any update on her condition.

"So that is why I want to get him out of there and find out what happened to our real parents" Efe sighed. Somewhere along the process of explaining to Ayo, she felt this overpowering sense of responsibility for her brother.

"Did you ever think what you would do if he isn't as helpless as you think?" He kicked a rock as they walked to his house. "I mean from what you're saying, it seems like they have a problem with only you. If you want to get answers for yourself then say so and stop using your brother as an excuse."

"I am not! I need to get him out of there!" Efe frowned, she wasn't making excuses or was she?

"Whatever Efe... And you need to learn to control your anger, the way you hacked up that guy was pretty scary. If you don't control it, it will control you" He told her in honesty.

"Alright oh wise one" she tried to laugh it off but he stopped.

"I'm serious Efe... Your powers have been surpressed for almost six years now. You shouldn't let hate control you. They are the bad people, not you! You shouldn't become like them to beat them. You're better than that." Ayo told. Her smile, long gone.

"How do you know that?" She replied curiously. "How do you know I'm not a bad person? How do you know that I don't deserve this? I can't even remember my past... How do I know I'm not the bad person here?" Efe fought back tears. These thoughts had been weighing her down since she discovered she could walk "ANSWER ME!!!" When he didn't reply, she nodded. Tears spilled down her face. "Exactly! You don't! You don't know anything! So shut up!" She cried. "Stop pretending you know me because you do not! You won't!" She hit his chest.

"I never said I knew you or that I wanted to know you! I'm only repaying you for helping me earlier" Ayo replied expressionless. "Maybe you're right, I am a fool trying to play hero... But isn't that what you're trying to do too?" He looked down before walking up to the big brown gate Efe didn't notice they were standing in front of. A slim hausa gateman opened up the small gate to let them in.

Once inside the compound, a beautiful mansion stood at the center of the land, it was all white with four pillars holding up the roof, all the lights inside were off except for two downstairs. As they approached it, the front lights flickered on. Ayo slipped the key in the golden keyhole.
"Please wait right there and don't touch anything... I'll be right back" Ayo ran up the staircase before she could respond.

Efe walked a little more into the house but didn't move further when she noticed her reflection in the mirror. She stood dusty, dirty and bloody, she almost didn't recognize herself. Charles old vintage shirt reached mid thigh and her jeans was more rugged than anything humans had ever come across. She thought. Ayo watched her looking at her self in the mirror from up the stairs before he came down with a fresh pair of clothes and towels for her.

"There's a bathroom, down this hall. It has a bathtub so you can lie in it until you get all the blood out. I'll be in the kitchen warming the jollof rice. There's dettol in the cupboard and new tooth brush and paste... Turn on the water heater. The hot water will get the blood out faster. Be going." she nodded before moving along to find her way. 'Ehya, he's being cold' she felt bad for yelling at him earlier.
She shouldn't have.

An hour and forty five minutes later, she came out sparkling. Well, not really sparkling but compared to how she was before, I'd say she sparked. The lavender shampoo and bathing soap really worked wonders. The white walls of the house rhymed with the paintings of african women on the walls. Efe thought they were all to be painted by the same artist because of the art style and similar signatures. The paintings were mostly of black children and were really realistic.

She peeked into the kitchen, where Ayo sat pressing his phone on a blue plastic chair at a corner. It was a really big kitchen, she thought. She couldn't remember the last time she saw a kitchen. The tiles were a clean mixture of black and white, the pots and pans she could see were all stainless and were suspended on a railing above the counter. A food sat in front of the microwave. Her stomach grumbled at the sight, alerting Ayo of her presence behind the door. He too had changed into shorts. He was quite fit, she noticed as she awkwardly stepped into his line of sight. His expression softened when he saw her in his clothes. A big basket ball short and a matching sleeveless top. She wasn't wearing any bra so her huge breasts hung under the shirt, he quickly averted his eyes before she could notice him checking her out.

He cleared his throat "Let's go to the dinning so you can eat" He carried her huge plate of food ahead, then left to get Zobo from the frigde.

"Thank you" she whispered not wanting to disturb the quiet in the house. The silence was strange yet soothing.

"You're welcome" He sat on the chair close to hers, watching as she devoured the food before her. She hadn't eaten anything all day expect those donuts and using so much energy to fight off those ritualists, drained her. Her eyelids began to droop as soon as she took the last spoon of rice and fried plaintain.

"Are your family members sleeping upstairs?" Efe yawned totally exhausted. "Excuse me" she whispered again.

"No… i live here alone" Ayo typed away on his phone. His friend had dropped it with the gateman when he couldn't find Ayo.

"How old are you? I'm 20" Efe stretched.

"Twenty two" Ayo tilted his phone, avoiding the obstacles in the game he played.

"Wow... And only you in this big house... That's cool. I could snap pictures everywhere. Especially that awesome mirror there..." She lazily pointed. Ayo dropped his phone to watch her.

"We could take pictures tomorrow before you have to leave..." He suggested absentmindedly, looking at the circular mirror on the parlor wall.

"Yeah" She yawned again "I'll clear my plate now"

"I'll do it" he didn't want to stress her. He stood.

"No thanks, you have done enough" Efe stood to take her plate to the kitchen but as she got to the sink, her knees buckled and she fell asleep. Luckily, Ayo was following her.

"Omobinrin asiwère" Foolish girl
He caught her before she reached the ground, the ceramic plate broke though. He dragged her to the guest bed room, struggled to tuck her in then went to clean up the mess in the kitchen.
