Sixteen

Later on, the lady burst out laughing to herself like a maniac.

"I should have done this a long time ago!" She hissed.

"I've been wondering eh, do you remember what happened after you got sold off?" Mide asked, pushing his head in between the front seats of Ayo's car. Efe had called Shotgun earlier.

"Mideee!" Ayo scolded "Why you go ask that kin thing?" He nodded at Efe who suddenly went quiet after she heard the question. "Efe you don't have to answer the question if you don't want to oh" Ayo eyed Mide, he just shrugged and sat back in his seat.

"Nah its nothing" she lied "Well, I'm sure word got out that I could do extraordinary things so my fake mom, Agu Nwadike, came and offered up the highest price to our masters" she sniffed "We were forced to call them master. I think a sick sadistic part of them enjoyed the thought of having slaves to kick around and whip for absolutely no reason… I could not control my powers then, u had these outbursts but not intentionally." She paused then looked outside so Ayo wouldn't see the tears drip down her face. " Anyway, when she bought us, she waited patiently for my brother to manifest his own powers while training me as an assassin. I purposely failed training so they wouldn't use my powers to hurt others but she caught on and threatened to kill David... I... I... Cou..couldn't let her do it so I tried to escape with david when I found out he had powers. I ended up killing... I killed them and Him" Now she was soundlessly crying and shaking.

"Killed who?" In shock, Ayo pulled over the car to a parking lot. "Killed who Efe?" She still had her face to the window. He put a hand on her shoulder, that was when he noticed her shaking. "Efe" he spoke gently. "It's okay"

"I'm gonna goo" Mide opened the door and left. He never knew what to do in these kinds of situations and he also sensed that she wasn't really comfortable. So he decided to leave for a while.

"It's okay Efe... You're okay" he gently but awkwardly tapped her shoulder.

"I..i...it is not" she cried and threw her face into her palms.

"It is" Ayo tried to reassure her but she wasn't having it.

"No! It's not!" Efe finally looked up at his sad eyes, it was as if her being in pain caused him pain. 'Why though' she wondered. Her eyes became red and puffy.

'Has she been crying for that long?' He asked himself.

"I killed him that's why! I didn't mean to... I.. I... Didn't mean it but I did it! That's why. That's... why she's trying to kill me and now I've put the both of you in danger" Efe sobbed.

"Tell me what you did Efe, you don't have to be scared of anything" Ayo tried again.

"No.. no no no no" she shook her head. He sighed as his heart beat a little faster.

"Would it help if I told you I liked you?" He heard her breath hitch for a second before she continued crying.

"You'll hate me.. You'll hate me" Efe muttered ignoring the meaning of his words.

"I can't hate you. I saw you kill three men and I didn't run..."

"That's because you are stupid" She bawled.

"That may be the case but still. There's nothing that'll make me hate you" He put his hand under her chin and made her look at him. She bit her bottom lip to stop it from quivering so much. "Now tell me every terrible thing you did"

Efe squinted trying to look away but he held her chin firmly "Jowo I can not stand to see you like this"

"I killed him Ayo" she finally spoke

"Who? Whose life did you take?"

"Her son's! I killed her son, that's why she's after me and that's why she still has my brother."

The teenage boy left the woman's office heading straight to the tech room to get gadgets and weapons.

"I need a bag, fill it with the usual stuff I carry out. I'll be down to get it after I change" he spoke to someone on the phone. His deepening voice echoed in the hallways. The walls of this Agency were made purely of stone, making the corridors cool, temperature wise. There were three floors in the building. The second floor where his mother was, the first floor where his room hid along with the common area and other rooms and then the basement.

Every weapon and tech support was kept  there along with illegal labs, holding cells and a sound proof torture chamber.

The first floor was mainly filled with rooms for the assassins and training rooms were scattered around for them.

David marched down the hall to get to his room. It was the biggest, it was only fit, seeing he was the best amongst the twenty eight assassins of The Agency's HQ, Marco International.

To the public they were undercover as an ordinary shipping company.

David slipped into his black combat gear, pulling forth his matching face mask to hide his identity. He strapped on his customized throwing knives at his ankles then went to the armoury. The wide space was home to various kinds of weapons, mainly used by the other twenty seven. Right now, inspections were taking place for safety measures. The chattering died down when his presence became known. Paying them no attention, he added a gun to his collection of weapons on his body, not like he needed them.

"Hey David!" A man yelled as David exited the armoury. The inspecting men and women in the room turned. David paused, he already knew what this was going to be about.

"What is it Okafor?" He replied, clearly irritated as his eyes told. This person was wasting his time. He had a plane to catch.

"Going on another mission? Alone?" Okafor questioned. He shoved David backward.

"Yes!" He bit out "If you have a problem with it, take it up with your superior" David stared him in the eye. They were just a finger from each other. Okafor towered over David but he stood his ground like he always did. Okafor was clearly older from the rough beards on his face to his ripping muscles, height and build while David had packs and muscles due to training but they weren't anything compared to Okafor's.

David was big and built for a sixteen year old.

"By superior, you mean your mother! Mommy!" He tapped on David's forehead  "Mommy's boy and favorite assassin" Okafor just wanted to taunt David.

"Watch your mouth before you say something you'll regret" David pushed him out of the way then turned to walk away.

"Come back here!" Okafor reached out grabbing him by the strap of his backpack. He threw a punch at okafor but before he could let go, David caught his hand, twisted it with as much force as he could muster and then kicked him with just as much force, in the stomach. Okafor doubled over coughing just then David gripped his punk hairstyle.

David's pupils glowed red as he held up Okafor's head. "Avoid Me! It's not my fault you are incompetent." He spat angrily then dropped okafor's head to the floor.
