Twenty Eight
'You better remember the plan David. I'm coming... I'm coming! ' Efe ran through the empty halls.
Earlier (After Agu's order to the doctor),
Christian stared broken-hearted at his fiancee in an open black body bag. Her glasses were stained with blood and her jaw hung limp from how she begged for help before she died. Christian bent to close her mouth. He felt like a hole had been shot through his heart with a laser. Taking one last look at her, he slid her golden engagement ring off her blood stained finger. Not wasting anymore of the cleaning team's time, Christian gave her hand one last squeeze before willing himself to move away.
"Your death will not be in vain" He promised with a kiss to the diamond on the ring. "Bring me the boy" he ordered the nurses."Yes sir"

"Leave us! This won't require a surgical team or any assistance" Christian arranged a couple of medical instruments on a tray. As soon as the nurses walked out, he locked the doors behind them. "You're no older than seventeen are you?" He asked David
"Don't you have my medical report?" Unnecessary questions irritated the young boy.
"If I did I wouldn't be asking now, would I?" Christian pulled out a chair and sat close to the Anomaly.
"I turned sixteen a few months back" David watched this man. He had droopy eyes and slanted eyebrows, blood cover a cheek but it didn't look like it was his blood. Is he going to kill me? That wouldn't be good, I made a promise to Efe and the drugs haven't worn off yet. Shit!
"You can relax. I'm not going to kill you but I am not going to let you go just yet!" Christian crossed his arms on his chest.
"What? Soo?" This doctor was confusing David.
"I want to hire you for a job. It may be your last but... ?" Christian trailed off, thinking.
"What do you mean? I'm in cuffs" David wanted to be sure the man was going to release him.
"I'll free you. Your target is Agu Nwandike!"
"What! Even you too?" David laughed "I thought you doctors worshipped her or something. The way you'd just be obeying her and shouting 'Yes ma Yes ma' up and down" David mocked with a smile. "May I know what brought about this sudden change of heart?"
"She killed my pregnant fiancee" Christian's jaws clenched. He looked away.
"Oh!" David's smile faltered "I guess that could change a couple of things. I'm sorry for your loss"
"I don't need your sympathy!" Christian yelled "Are you going to kill her or not? Your life should be enough payment!"
David watched the grieving man intently. He sighed "Well, I was going to kill her already. You don't have to threaten me. I could kill you with just a thought"
"Not now. You're still powerless" Christian reminded him as He turned to get an injection from his bag. By the time he turned back to David, his surgical instruments were everywhere in the air facing him.
"I don't stay down for long"
"I have a plan that you need to listen to. Can you drop those? They're very delicate" Christian held out a hand.
"I think I'll hold on to these. Now Talk?"
"I don't perform well under stress" Christian lied.
"You worked for Agu for Three years"
"So? What does that have to do with this?"
"She is the definition of stress." he laughed "You want to tell me you've never had a gun to your head? While working?" David raised a brow.
"Well, that was..."
"Tick Tock Doctor! I know she put you on a timer. Start talking!"
***************
Present Time,
David assessed the guards in his vehicle. It was about time for phase two of their plan. He could see the massive land Christian had described as the private airport owned by the honourable. Christian was right. If he fought Okafor here, there wouldn't be many casualties except for the guards in the vehicles and any unlucky person on the property. From how the cars were arranged, he knew that Agu was in the car behind him, with Okafor. There was a car behind them and two in front of him. The car he occupied was in the middle so that meant, Honorable James was in the limo directly in front of him.
"This will hurt" David bowed in between his guards, before they could react to what he said, he slammed his left elbow into the left guard's throat. As that was happening, he twisted his right leg to kick the right guard's knees together and into the door. Cracking them from the force. The guards eyes turned crimson, they cried out "AARRGGHH!" David silenced them the moment the driver regained his footing on the brakes, though not for long though because David smashed his head against the side window until the driver's head caved in. "Wow.. Bulletproof glass! Nicee" Tyres skidded across the airport fields as some cars in the convoy tried to maneuver their way through obstacles on the field.
The car Agu was in drove right into a concrete parapet. Dust from sand bags on the parapet covered the windshield, and with no sight, the car hit a building undergoing construction on the far end of the field.
David managed to jump out of his vehicle at the time loads of iron rods fell straight into Agu's car. He sighed. "I guess that should be enough to kill.." His victory was short lived when something.. No! Someone big ran into him, tackling him to the ground and holding onto him.
David struggled but managed to push off his oppressor and get himself off the grass. He came face to face with Okafor."Now! We will get to see who is better" Okafor's Igbo accent caressed every word he uttered.
"I never gave it a thought" David only smirked but it turns out that was enough to get Okafor to charge at him.
*********
"Why the fudge does this place have so many doors?" Efe kept running around since she left Christian. Her plan was to get out of the building without drawing attention to her self but she was going to scream if she didn't find the exit soon. She stopped in front of a massive window, there were chairs beside it. "Sorry window" Efe flung four steel chairs into the window before the glass shattered. She was sure everybody on the south side of the building heard all the noise from that glass. "Rage be alert for anything" Efe frowned as she walked into the open space beside the building. The interlocking tiles were soaked in water.
There wasn't any rain while we were out, was there? She thought. Rain hardly fell during the last windy days of october.'Efe watch out!' Rage's warning came a second too late. Water from a hose fell on Efe, completely drenching her clothes. Seconds later, the water seized. "Thanks for the bath! Gee I really needed it!" Efe hollered sarcastically and shot a dirty look at a lady in a black suit and black croc gloves. The lady's sun shades blocked Efe from getting a full view of her face.
"Don't thank me just yet" The lady gave a half smile then pulled off a glove. Efe expected to see an ugly hand but it turned out to be normal. "Go on your knees, you wretch" She touched the water on the tiles. Orange sparks shot onto the ground riding through the water till it got to Efe. The water dripping from Efe attracted the sparks causing an immediate and intense shock to run all over her body. The pain brought her to her knees. She roared.
See you in five days.
Stay safe My Lovelies.
