The crying stopped.
'Is that a cry I hear?' Efe looked at the girl but she wasn't taking in the information before her. 'What's going on? Why is she crying? Why is she in the street? Is she trying to stop me from killing him?!' The girl wailed and shrieked, still unable to move.
It's annoying make it stop! Make it Stop!!' Efe scratched behind her ears in frustration as her battle axe materialized. She advanced on the child with the intention of ending the noise.
'I just hope you don't become what you're trying to fight' She heard Ayo's voice.
'Rage is yours. Control it! Don't let it control you!!' Mide's words rang clear as day in her ears and in that moment, realization hit then she really saw the frightened little girl in front of her.
"What are you doing Efe?" She whispered to herself. Her eyes changed back to white and brown from black and red. Taking out her burning rage for James on the child would make her just as much of a monster as him. She stopped a few feet before her, aware of how she looked, she sighed. "Hey.." Efe whispered, the girl didn't budge. "Do.. Do you want a balloon?" The girl cried. Efe sighed, her eyes fell. She felt a need to make this child happy yet she didn't know how. Then she has an idea,
I'm just like you,
You're just like me... She hummed the tune from Barbie's Princess and the Pauper. If the girl really was a barbie fan like her shirt said, then she'd know the song. Just like Efe hoped, it caught her attention. The girl stared at the space in between herself and Efe. There Barbie and her friend twirled and danced with Efe's aura.
S L A S H! Efe threw an axe to stop James from slipping into the watching crowd.
By now, the crying already stopped.
"Go back to your mother child"
PAST
David's POV
He laid under the grey sky. His whole body throbbed painfully, his eyes were giving out and he couldn't form any more words in his head. He was at his limit. He was tired and breathing was taking a heavy toll on his broken ribs.
Just then, he felt himself being peeled off the ground as his neck held the weight of his body. James flew for a while with him then stopped, hovering off the ground. He kept shaking David's head so David's whole body would swing, painfully.
A loud screech pierced his ears making James lose his balance for a moment. He spotted Efe.
"What are you going to do about it, Love?" He heard James ask.
'Is he talking to me?' David thought. His eyes fluttered open. 'Efe?' His heart stopped at the sight of her. Efe's limp form glared at James, then David hit the ground.
"I guess nothing!" James let go of the rocks, completely burying David.
"I.. WILL.. KILL.. YOU!!!!!" Was the last thing he heard. No later than a second, he was covered with the rocks. It took everything in him to hold up all that weight an inch above himself. It was both mentally and physically exhausting for him. He let out a shaky breath and shivered.
Being on the verge of death changes your perspective about a lot of things. It also clears your head and let's you think about only what is important.. Or what was anyway. As David laid underneath those rocks half-dead, his life flashed before his eyes including everything that was ever important or valuable to him and he realized that he could let every single one of them go except one, and he wasn't about to let it go.
