"weve been M.I.A for too long," sirius stated. "it needs to be big, like really big."

"were talking over a months detention then, arent we?" peter whined falling back onto his bed

"oh definitely, it wont be big enough if we get any less," sirius replied enjoying how anxious peter got about it all. it was a bit cruel but pete did it to himself really

"okay we need suggestions," james added leaning against the frame of petes bed

"moony?" sirius cocking his eyebrow with a grin

"are we talking big like targeting all the slytherins or big as in everyone in the great hall?" remus asked trying to gather as much information as he could before throwing out ideas

james and sirius shared a knowing glance before stating in unison, "great hall"

"cant we just pie everyone in the face and call it a day?" peter still whining

"pete, common, you know thats not marauder style at all" sirius groaned

"wait," remus gasped, snapping his fingers standing up and pacing around the room

"you're not seriously considering—" sirius began

"sirius, would you let me—" remus snapped

sirius sank back into his chair as remus paced around the room. he was mumbling to himself but no one could understand him. he wasnt speaking in sentences or loud enough to fully make out what he was saying

"okay so maybe not literally pieing people in the face but like the principle of it," remus finally revealed his idea

"like a food fight!" james proposed

they all looked at each other one by one and slowly shared a mischievous smile

"pete, you might just be a genius after all," sirius chimed walking to pete side and giving him a pat on the back

the two began exchanging a quiet separate conversation

"james can we talk?" remus pulling him aside before he could say yes or no

james followed him into the hallway, "yea, everything alright moony?"

"yea yea, great. things are great," remus insisted. "i actually wanted to talk about you."

"me?"

"yea im worried about you. i mean we all are," he explained

"im better, loads better, honestly i am," james stated

"let me talk eh?" remus chuckled

james nodded with a nervous smile

"im glad you sorted yourself out, really i am. but the terms you did it on.." he paused for a moment

"look you went through hell and back all because regulus wasnt by your side then the minute hes back in your life its like you were never bad at all"

"its just that—you cant rely on him to be happy. you gotta be able to function and have a will to live whether hes with you or not"

james didnt say anything. he was too busy thinking back on it all

"please dont be mad at me or misunderstand me. you and regulus are great together, you are. but if you two dont last, i just dont wanna see you like that again"

"i guess i never realized how bad i actually was," he stated

thats the funny thing about it all. james was not aware of how bad he looked to everyone around him. he didnt realize he lost a noticeable amount of weight or that his back to back sleepless night were physically noticeable. he never knew how much people noticed

"you never do," remus said blandly. "you always think you look sort of alright, that youre getting by until someone else says you looked hours away from death."

"it feels nice in a weird way to know that people even noticed," james said finally

"just make sure youre still your own person while also being with him, if that makes sense." remus summarizing his whole point

james smiled kindly, "i get what youre saying moony. thank you, really."

remus patted him on the back in a brotherly fashion, the kind james had grown fond of over the years. he gave james a smile too

"now prongs, i do believe we have a prank to plan, dont we?" remus grinned that devious 'im the evil mastermind' grin
