i slip on black wedge boots and grab my black leather jacket and throw it over my shoulder and run out to his car "hey" he smiles "hi" "were picking up cole then we'll go to the warehouse, are you sure owen won't kill me because i really can't deal with that and him being pissed at me all-" "okay relax he's fine with it" i laugh "if he gets mad at me i'm going to kill you" "fine with me"
"what's up with you two" he asks "still nothing same as like nine months ago" "when will the two of you admit you like each other it's killing us all and we placed bets, my date is the closest so if you could get it done soon that would be great" he says "you placed bets?" "yeah, i thought he would do it on your birthday so i have between the second and the fifteenth so hurry up" "oh my god" i roll my eyes "he's into you lana, like seriously into you" "no he's not. drive"
eventually we get to the warehouse owen wasn't in sight so i assumed he was in the back getting ready or something i look around to see mostly men middle aged looking at me, there were a few girls who were all over some boys that didn't seem interested
"i'm gonna get a drink, you want anything?" shane asks "just whatever you're having" him and cole take off toward the beer and wine coolers
"what could a pretty girl like you be doing at a fight like this?" i turn to see a guy who looked to be in college, maybe he's 20 "one of my friends is fighting" i tell him feeling kinda of uncomfortable "what's his name" "uhm owen smith" "oh nice, my moneys on him" i nod and turn away but he stays beside me
"i heard he's with that girl mandy" the man breaks the silence "i uh- i don't know her" "she works here i guess the two of them have a fling every fighting season and it's back again" "never heard of her" "they were together earlier in the back room hooking up, good luck charm maybe" "yeah. maybe."
i shouldn't let it bother me but fuck it did. he could hook up with anyone he wanted but he would be pissed if another boy came near me maybe it was a lie i don't know but maybe i would talk about it with him later.
"here" shane hands me a drink "thanks" "who's your friend?" cole laughs "im rick" the college dude says they both look at me and i shrug not knowing why he was here either
"sam miller vs owen smith, let's get started" the ref says then i spot her mandy she had bright blonde hair and looked like she was wearing a bikini she grabs owens face and connects there lips for a few seconds before pulling away "oh fuck" shane mutters and looks down at me "but he's into me right?" i take a sip of my drink and watch the two boys in front of me fight "lana he does like you, i just-him and mandy have been on and off" cole says i ignore them trying to tune it all out
i had ended up drinking more than i had planned and by more i mean i was drunk, i had passed the tipsy stage probably a half hour ago. the fight was over, owen was pretty beat up, fucking asshole deserved it. maybe talking to him while being drunk was not the best idea but it needed to be done.
"you need to get home" shane says "no, i need to talk to owen" "not the best idea lana you're drunk and he's probably tired" cole adds we make our way back to the parking lot where i guess is where they always met up after.
the boys stay silent when owen comes over, they seemed kind pissed off at him too "what'd i do" he asks cole and shane both look at me "here's the thing" i slur "are you drunk" he stops me

falling asleep that night was hard, i don't even know why i said any of that, i didn't want to see him at school tomorrow or anywhere
