Time Has No Meaning

Persephone felt the magic before she realized what had happened. The light of the sky vanishing as the ground came up around them. Her first response was to bang on the edge of the sphere, regretting it as she broke her fist open on the rough edges of the stones embedded in the wall, her blood coating it. She then tried to burst her way out of it, feeling for the roots or seedlings around them, however, Demeter had been thorough in her location, as Persephone was not strong enough to create life from nothing, the walls only holding minerals and soil. Persphone whirled around as she faced Demeter.

"What is this mother!? Why have you created this sphere?

Demeter sighed, "Are quite done? I believe that you still owe me answers." As she advanced Persephone took a step back hitting the curved wall behind her as she felt swallowed by Demeter's power, the temperature rising significantly in the sealed-off room.

"I... I don't have anything else to say... please." Persephone didn't know why her voice quivered on the last word as it escaped her thoughts.

Demeter's ora glowed brighter now as she shook her head, "You always did have your stubborn moments." With an easy wave of her hand, vines shaped like chains came from all sides of the sphere, two from the top and two from the bottom lifting Persephone in the air.

Persephone struggled, her strength earned from hours at night dancing, in vain as the magical chains didn't budge, the roots not coming from the soil but Demeter.  Persephone grunted from the strain as the vines only tightened, causing her more pain, as they rubbed her ankles and wrists raw. "Mother why... your hurting me, what have I done to warrant this? Please stop, I thought we were going to talk!"

Demeter didn't budge as Persephone struggled, "You have lost your respect and the privilege of a conversation. I don't know if  "He" has bewitched you or what, but this thing that you have turned into is not my daughter."

Demeter only added more vines to hold Persephone fast, the undergrowth working its way along her torso and down around her legs. The feeling of moving vines was everywhere as Persephone felt trapped in more than just one cage.

Demeter stood tall face to face with Persephone as she stoped her vines, the trunks stabilizing and holding fast to her daughter, "now start from the beginning and talk. No lies no escape,  just you and the truth."

Persephone whimpered in pain as she tried to resist again but to no avail. Finally, in somewhat of an angry haze Persephone gathered up her spit and shot it right into Demeter's face, a little bit dribbling from her mouth.

Demeter moved in a flash, smacking Persephone in the face, as she grabbed her ear, "you insolent brainless little twat, if you were not my daughter your tongue would be forfeit."

Persephone cried out at the pain as her ear was twisted in between Demeter's thumb and forefinger.

"Fine, maybe you will be more willing to talk after you have missed a few meals." Demeter released Persephone's ear as she stepped away brushing her hands off from Persephone's sweat. She turned to go as she said, "for as long as you choose his darkness you will remain in darkness, when you are ready to be a good obedient little girl again then you may receive the sun." There was a pause as Demeter added as an afterthought, "And Persephone, most flowers don't survive without the light." Demeter faded through the walls as if they were nothing.

It took Persephone a few hours to stop crying, her face and arms healing as she hung loosely in her bonds. The darkness was complete though as no light even her own ora was able to penetrate the sphere, Demeter's magic dampening any light that she might have been able to produce. When she had pulled herself together, she tried once again to pull the vines apart, even swinging back and forth to see if she could loosen them and then slip out, but to no avail. After that, she tried transforming, knowing that if she could just make her arms a little smaller or maybe bigger she could get loose. But no luck was to be found there either as she quickly realized that the dampener on magic was not just on the light. Persephone huffed as she resigned to waiting, even though her arms were getting tired from being pulled up for so long she tried to be positive. Her positivity lasted about 5 minutes before the sheer darkness came back to cloud her fission and mind. Every couple of minutes she would save her strength and try to break the vines again, often cutting her wrists open once more only to have them heal a couple of minutes later.
