Yesterday we went to bi-district. We did awesome! The sound was perfect, the actors performed their best, the lights were beautiful, the backstage crew was prepared, and the stage manager did amazing at running the show. We left it all out there on the stage (or, in the tech's case, the booth).
On the way there, the drum major played his ukulele and roasted people. Then the senior who winked at me joined in, but started rapping. It was quite hilarious, to be honest. Then the drum major played music from my speaker.
We went to cracker barrel and ate dinner after the play, and the senior who winked at me was payed 40 dollars to wear one of his dresses for the play inside. He even kept the makeup on, and somehow, he got one of the waitress's snaps! Afterwards, the same senior used my speaker to play music, and we ended up singing along to Hamilton the whole way back.
The senior who winked at me was marvelling that makeup made him look better, and he asked aloud if that's why girls wore makeup. I said, "I guess, but I don't wear makeup, so....". He was like "really?", and I was like "yeah.". He said that I didn't need it anyways, since I was just naturally beautiful. I denied his claim, but he legit insisted that I was naturally beautiful.
We hung around in the black box for what seemed like forever. We were all very antsy, and at one point, the senior who winked at me though I was crying so he gave me a hug. When the awards ceremony came on zoom, we listened. Our stage manager got the crew award for our school. And OUR WHOLE CREW GOT THE OVERALL OUTSTANDING CREW AWARD!!!! Everyone went crazy! Then the drum major and the senior who winked at me both got all star cast awards. However, despite all the good news, our play did not advance to regionals.
