(Y/N) tugged at the chains that were bound to her ankles, but it was to no avail. She heard a loud bang, which was then followed by slow footsteps. From the shadows stood the wizard that was feared by nations. The Black Wizard, Zeref.

"I hope you're doing well. Have you eaten?"

"You haven't given me any food," came (Y/N)'s weak voice. "When can I go outside?"

"You're not ready yet. You still have some work to do."

(E/C) eyes made contact with the formidable wizard before they fell to the floor. She heard a loud sigh from the black haired wizard, and a second later her ankles were freed.

"We can work on your training then."

(Y/N) slowly nodded and shook her feet to get the feeling back in them. Zeref waved her to follow him, and after weighing her options, she did so. Sunlight overwhelmed the (H/C) haired girl, it being a foreign and uncommon sight in her time.

"We're going to the middle of the forest."

(Y/N) took a few steps back, fear in her eyes.

"That's where the animals live."

"You'll be training."

The girl tried her best to convince him otherwise, but he was firm in his plans. They made their way to the forest and stood in the middle of a clearing where rabbits and deer were standing. (Y/N) was pushed into the middle of the clearing by Zeref, who had taken his place by some trees nearby.

"Cast it."

"I can't."

"Look into their eyes."

"But...I can't."

"You love them, yes? You love the animals."

(Y/N) started to cry because she, as experience would say, knew what was coming next. Her eyes refused to look at the deer, deciding to stay trained on a small rock by her feet.

"Look at them."

"No," she forced out.

Zeref snapped, "Look at them!"

She slowly raised her eyes, immediately regretting it when she saw the deer curiously looking back at her. Within seconds, she had fallen to her knees as the screams started. The deer, now spooked, galloped away from the clearing, and the other animals followed suit. For some, however, it was too late. Because about ten seconds after she had fallen, the black fog appeared, and the air pulsed, sending a shockwave of death throughout the clearing. When she opened her eyes again, she found a large section of the area had withered away. Corpses of rabbits, birds, and some deer lay scattered on the ground, and the flora around her had met the same fate.

"Good."

(Y/N) refused to get up, too emotional to really hold herself up in an effective manner. Zeref stepped over to her and stood over her.

"You're improving. It's a lot bigger."

"I don't want it to be," she choked.

Zeref grabbed her by the back of her shirt and pulled her up, pushing her back towards the cave that she had been staying in.

"I don't want to do this."

"You must."

The Black Wizard pushed her over to a small fire and handed her a piece of meat, but, as usual, her appetite had withered away as the living things around her had done earlier. Too upset to eat, (Y/N) stared into the fire as she cried.
