𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐒𝐄𝐂𝐑𝐄𝐓 𝐏𝐑𝐈𝐓𝐂𝐇𝐄𝐓𝐓- 𝐁𝐎𝐎𝐊 𝟏

Baby On Board!

"Jay! Kids! Good news"! Gloria yelled running into the kitchen. "Mitch and Cam  are getting a new baby today" Gloria squealed. "Really? That's fantastic" Jay smiled. "And he's Latino"! Gloria smiled. "How's that giant fence working out for you"? Manny asked sarcastically.  Today was my recital and so was Lily's. I'm so glad Mitch and Cam are getting a new baby, but today of all days. 

The phone rang, "It's Claire" Gloria squealed. "Hello. Did you hear"? Gloria asked. That conversation went on for a long time. I was back upstairs making sure my dresses and my make up was all packed. I came downstairs and heard "The first step in plane building, organize the parts. You got your power plant, you got your fuselage, you got your control surfaces. What's that"? Jay asked pointing to my favorite thing on that table. 

"It's charcuterie" I smiled walking down the last steps. "You got your prosciutto, your pancetta, your salami" Manny pointed to many meats of the platter. "That's Charcuterie"? Jay asked. "Sure is amigo" I smiled licking my lips. "I've been avoiding that on the menu's for years. They're killing themselves with that name" Jay tutted. Me and Manny laughed, we always have a platter after school. 

The doorbell rang, "They're here! They're here"! Gloria yelled running to the door. "Hi" Mitch and Uncle Cam waved, "Thank you so much for doing this. Thank you" Mitch thanked as he pushed Lily into the house. "Of course" Gloria agreed. "So her part of the recital is at 6:00, the same address, here's her outfit, this is our camcorder, get the whole show and some backstage color" Uncle Cam instructed Gloria passing me all the things. 

"Wanna take our charcuterie for the road"? Manny offered. "Bup, bup, bup. Their good we may need that" Jay interrupted. Then someone's phone began to ring, it was Mitch's. He picked it up with a simple, "Hello". "Yeah, um, hold on a second" Mitch said politely to whoever was on the phone. "I think it's the baby's family. They're speaking Spanish" Mitch questioned. 

Without hesitation Uncle Cam snatched the phone of Mitch, "Hola. Soy Cameron. Como estas? Uh, excuse me. . .could- could you slow down a little bit. . .What does fernetico mean"? Uncle Cam asked but still tried to speak as much Spanish possible. "It's when they. . ." I began but then Mitch butted in, "Or just let Gloria or Julie to do it"? Mitch suggested. "Yeah, Gloria there you go" I smile handing her the phone. Gloria walked off into the other room speaking Spanish. "I was doing fine" Uncle Cam scoffed. 

"He think he's some sort of an expert because the past two weeks he's been watching this ridiculous Spanish soap opera" Mitch began to explain. "Fire and Ice"? Jay suggested. "Don't say a word"! Manny ordered. "Especially about the ending of last night's episode"! I yelled. All the boys gave each other weird looks. "My mom and Julia watch it" Jay defended himself . "You'll ruin it for them" Manny added. 

"It was the mother's sister, Juanita . She said that she doesn't know the exact hospital yet, but she will call you back in the next hour" Gloria explained as she walked back into the room. "Oh thank you Gloria, I hate to ask this of you, but would you mind coming with us"? Mitch asked. My eyes widened. I mean I get their getting a baby, congratulations and all, but my recital is tonight. My first recital and I wanted to impress Gloria. 

"We need someone who actually knows how to speak Spanish" Mitch added. "Moi fruio" Uncle Cam spoke, I don't think that was a word. "Yes, of course, I would love to. Thank you, thank you, thank you, I'm gonna grab my stuff and we go okay" Gloria thanked Mitch and Uncle Cam. 

"All right Sweetheart. All right, come here" Mitch smiled as he kissed Lily on the cheek. "Daddy's gotta go okay? All right" Mitch smiled. "We're so sorry we're missing both of your recital's, but you know what? You're getting a brand new baby brother" Uncle Cam squealed as he kissed Lily on the forehead. "Jay! Kids! I'll see you later"! Gloria shouted. All three of left leaving me, Manny, Lily and Jay together. "What just happened here"? Jay asked. "I have to go to the bathroom" Lily spoke up. "She's talking to you" We all say pointing at each other.
