Jaehwa POV
I walked to the park near our neighborhood. Eunhee told me they made it to her house so I decided it would be a good idea to get ready.
There was a small playground in it that we used to always play at. I sat on the swing as I waited for Jeongin to arrive.
After zoning off for a bit, I felt someone's presence from behind before they took a seat on the swing beside me.
"You finally made it," I smiled without looking at him. I honestly wasn't not sure how to face him after making him play this little game.
"Jaehwa...you really planned this out for me," he sniffled.
I looked at him in shock. "Are you crying? I didn't even do anything!"
He looked at me with teary eyes. "Does this scene remind you of anything?"
I suddenly understood what he meant.
*flashback*
"Jaehwa be careful okay, I'll be over here if you need anything," my mom told me as she sat on a bench.
"Don't worry Auntie, I'll make sure nothing happens," Hyunjin answered.
She giggled before nodding, "You two have fun."
Hyunjin and I ran to the slide before repeatedly taking turns. "I'm going to the swing!" I shouted at him before running off.
"Hey, wait for me!" He whined but I didn't turn back.
I struggled as I climbed onto the swing. Unfortunately my feet couldn't reach the ground once I got situated. "Hyunjin! Hurry up and come push me!" I yelled.
"Wait, I'm stuck!" He shouted back.
I grew impatient waiting for him. All of a sudden my thoughts were interrupted by the sound of crying.
I turned to my right and saw a boy sitting on the swing beside me looking at the ground as he sniffled.
"Are you crying? What's wrong?" I asked hoping he heard me.
"No, I'm not," he said as he wiped his tears.
"Liar, you're clearly crying," I jumped off the swing and walked up to him before crouching down to look at his face.
"You're cute. Cute kids shouldn't cry or else you'll ruin your face," I said as I wiped some of his tears.
He sniffled as he met my eyes with a small smile. "Who says that to someone they just met?"
"Me," I giggled, "But look. You're smiling now, so I did pretty good huh?"
He didn't respond but I could tell he agreed. "My name is Yoo Jaehwa, what's yours?"
"Yang Jeongin..."
"Yang Jeongin? How old are you?" I asked.
"I'm 8 years old," he replied shyly.
"Really? Me too! Let's be friends!" I beamed.
*end of flashback*
I quickly got up before crouching in front of him.
"Cute kids shouldn't cry, remember?" I smiled as I wiped his tears.
"Such a weird thing to tell someone," he laughed.
"Hey, but it made you smile didn't it? And it worked again, so I don't see the problem here," I shrugged.
I got up and sat back down on the swing. "We've come quite a long way huh? Who would've thought we'd be sitting here again, but as a couple."
"Jaehwa, you didn't have to do this you know. We've known each other for 10 years. You don't have to say a word for me to know how much you care. I just like doing things for you because I think you deserve it. You've helped me so much along with keeping me company all this time...I just think it's nice if I do something special for you from time to time," he said as he stared into the space in front of him.
"I know. I know you like giving gifts and doing all these things, but I shouldn't just sit and receive all of it just because it's in my nature. I'm not only doing this for you, but for me too. You know it's hard for me to seriously tell you my feelings, but I'm glad you understand..." I trailed off as I thought about what I needed to say. Writing letters was already difficult, so how do I tell him?
"I wrote those letters because I wasn't confident," he spoke.
I didn't respond assuming he would continue. There was a small silence as we both watched the wind blow between the leaves on the trees.
"I wasn't sure how you felt and I was afraid of ruining our friendship. I'm sure you felt the same," he finally finished.
I nodded not sure if he could see me.
"Thank you Jeongin...I'm so glad you're my friend and my boyfriend. I couldn't imagine it being anyone else."I knew he'd blush at my words considering how shy he was at any confession I made. I wanted to look but I doubt I'd be able to finish talking if I saw him now.
"You sure have a way with words," he chuckled.
"Hey, don't laugh at me! I'm trying my best okay."
I cleared my throat before finishing my last comment, "You gave me lots of memories and I definitely won't forget them. I hope we'll all continue to make more memories together, and of course I can't forget the most important thing."
I finally turned to him and he looked back at me with confusion in his eyes.
"You can't be a stranger to anyone else, got that?" I smiled as I got up and gave him a light kiss before meeting his eyes. "Stranger."
