29.Letter Hunt pt.1

Jaehwa POV

After returning from our stay at the resort, I decided I wanted to do something special for Jeongin. I'm always on the receiving end so I think it's time I return the gesture.

Eunhee, Seungmin, and Hyunjin came over to help me plan out my surprise. Hyunjin spoiled the fact that Jeongin was planning something for me, but I was thankful because that means he'll be distracted. Rather than him giving me another gift, I'd like to be the one giving him something for a change.

My plan was to write letters for him as he did for me. I thought it would be nice to voice my thoughts similar to the way he did.

Eunhee and Hyunjin focused on thinking about the right places to hide the envelopes while Seungmin hovered over my shoulder and watched me write. He gave me pointers here and there when something seemed off.

"We should make the last place where they first met," Eunhee suggested.

Hyunjin opposed the idea, "I think it's better if we make it the first place. Wouldn't it be cuter if they went through a timeline?"

"I think it's cuter if they end up where it all started," Eunhee replied in disagreement.

The two began bickering and Seungmin chuckled. "How far have you gotten?" He asked in a calming voice.

I let out a sigh as I crumpled up another letter. "Not far at all. This is harder than I thought," I let my head fall onto the desk in frustration.

He patted my back softly. "Don't think too much. Just write how you feel, he'd like it either way."

I propped my head up knowing he was right. I let out a breath before tying my hair and picking up the pen. "Alright, let's do this."

I began writing letters like my life depended on it. I wrote everything I'd wanted to tell him that I never could.

Eunhee and Hyunjin finally came to an agreement and we started planning things out bit by bit.

"Hm, should we think about getting him some chocolate or something?" Eunhee suggested.

I shook my head, "The letters will be enough. Besides, he doesn't really like sweets."

She nodded before looking over the plan Hyunjin had written down. I somehow had to make sure I could get this letter hunt to work. A few hours into our project, there was a knock on the door.

We turned our heads as my mom opened the door, curiosity written on her face. "What are you guys doing cooped up in this stuffy room? Why don't you go out for some air?"

"Mom we're fine. We're just a little busy," I reassured her.

She eyed us and sighed. "You're doing all of this for Jeongin? He better become my son in law if he can get my daughter to work this hard on something."

Hyunjin laughed and I glared at him before looking at my mom. "I work harder than he does mom, how can you say that?"

She shook her head, "You might've worked hard in school, but you've never worked so hard in a relationship before." I smiled at her response knowing she was right.

"Auntie, we'll go out for some air so you don't have to worry," Hyunjin said as he turned to her. She nodded in acceptance before closing the door.

"So where are we going?" Eunhee asked.

"How about we grab something to eat and then make our way around to these places so we know how much ground we have to cover?" Seungmin suggested.

"Sounds good to me," Eunhee replied. After arguing about what to eat, we made our way to a restaurant.

"We'll be back mom!" We all waved before walking out the door.

We arrived at the restaurant and took a seat at an empty table.

"I want some ice cream," Hyunjin spoke after we finished eating.

"Then go buy some, it's not far," Eunhee responded.

He frowned before checking if he had enough money in his wallet. On our way out of the restaurant, Hyunjin bought us ice cream for our journey.

"So we obviously can't go to the resort because it's far," Eunhee noted as Hyunjin handed her the icecream she wanted.

Seungmin nodded before adding on to her sentence, "Then the most recent place before that would be the school."

Hyunjin POV

A few days later we finally finished up everything and Jaehwa asked me to lead Jeongin to her. It was hard finding an excuse to go to the school, but at least I was able to convince the teachers to let us in.

"So remind me again why we're going to the school?" Jeongin asked as we walked along the sidewalk.

"Seungmin said the teachers needed him to return one of their study books, but they couldn't get into his locker," I lied.

Jeongin didn't seem to care much. "Why couldn't he go himself?"

I shrugged. "He said he had some important business planned for today."

Jeongin POV

We made it to the school and Hyunjin led the way to Seungmin's locker. "Your locker is close by, why don't you see if the combo still works?" He said as he fiddled with the lock in front of him.

"There's no point when there's nothing inside."

He stopped to look at me, "Come on, just do it. You never know, maybe all your memories will come flooding in. Or you could always go to Jaehwa's, you know it pretty well," he shrugged.

I decided there was no harm in looking since I wasn't doing anything. As I walked towards my locker I noticed that Jaehwa's was slightly open. Out of curiosity, I opened it to find an envelope inside. Is this one of mine?

I reached my hand inside and pulled it out before opening the envelope. Inside was a letter filled with Jaehwa's handwriting.

"When did she do this?" I said to myself before reading it.

Jeongin,

You weren't expecting this were you? I honestly don't know where to start since I've never done this before... Basically, I wanted to take you through a trip of our memories while writing you letters like you did for me. I'm so grateful for all the things you do for me, and I wanted to give you something in return. That's why I decided to do this. Hyunjin is there to guide the way in case you get a little confused. My next letter is on your desk from senior year.
