CHAPTER EIGHTEEN
Dalmar quietly placed his toolbox near Wale. Before wale could notice, the door opened
“Grandma...” A deep voice hollered. He switched the light and closed the door to only see Wale with a toolbox in hand
“Who the hell are you? What are you doing in my house?” Jim growled
“Well I...” Wale began. The lights were blinking in fault. Jim was waiting for an answer
“Hello? I AIN’T GOT ALL DAY, WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?”
“Well...” Before Wale could think, the lights blew out “I’m the electrics person”
“Oh really...” Jim began
“DAMN...Bro, Wale’s gonna get caught...have you seen how big that guy is?” Lanelle gasped. Dalmar was hard at work and in no time, produced an authentic-looking I.D. card, and put it on the floor without being detected. Wale turned his eye to view the card
“Sorry, I dropped my I.D.”
“BAD MAN, nice one D” Paul smiled before they touched fists
Jim read the I.D. card and was satisfied
“Cool...Don’t be messing up my living room. I’ve had a hard enough day” Jim yawned as he went in to the kitchen. Wale nodded, as he walked toward the group who were in hiding
“Guys...” Wale whispered “Now what?”
“We’ve got to find the snake thing, this is getting dangerous” Lanelle replied
“Alright, Paul let’s go check upstairs” DeMarion declared
“Are you dizzy?” Paul replied “Did you bump your head? I ain’t going no where with you”
“You can be such a waste guy, you know that?” Lanelle replied “Why are you being difficult”
“Because I’m stressed out, alright” Paul replied “I’m sick of all this, it’s been going on too long. None of it seems like it’s really happening man. Literally the time is ticking, and we haven’t even got close to figuring out who is doing this or why it’s happening. I just can’t do this anymore. I just can’t…I just”
“GET A HOLD OF YOURSELF!” DeMarion slapped Paul hard across the face. The group’s eyes ballooned in shock
“NAH…NO YOU DID NOT” Paul began to charge at DeMarion in a fit of rage but was held back by Wale
“What did you say your name was again?” Jim began as his footsteps were heard
“YO HIDE” Wale barked as the group dispersed into different hiding places
Jim brought out two lit candles which brightened the room
“Just because I’m a big-built man don’t mean I’m that ruthless” Jim chuckled “Thought you’d need a bit of light to see what you’re doing”
“Thanks, bro” Wale gave a thumbs up
“I hope you can hurry up, I need to catch the football game on repeat, so kick the speed up a gear”
“Sure thing, man, just go back into the kitchen and relax yourself, you look mad tired” Wale replied
“Tell me about it…” Jim began “You can carry on”
“Cool” Wale grinned
“Hold up…” Jim began “What country are you from?”
“Nigeria” Wale replied “Why do you ask?”
