FAIR WARNING

CHAPTER TWENTY TWO [PART ONE]

The inside of the apartment was rather eerie and gloomy. Lanelle clutched onto Paul as the group took step by step, progressing deeper into the apartment

“This is something else...where’s the lights?” Shay shakily asked

“What...Is Shay shook now? Is she a SHOOK ONE?” Lanelle grinned [SHOOK: Scared]

“Stop flapping those RUBBISH gums of yours, I never get scared” Shay barked

“NO...YOU TWO, SHUSH” Wale declared

“Who are you telling to keep quiet? You shush yourself” Shay spat

“Ignore her” Courtney smiled to Wale “Where would MARSHAL be?”

“No clue...I just hope this is MARSHAL ‘cause I want this to end. It’s been going on for so long”

“Couldn’t agree with you more, brother” Paul nodded his head.

Lanelle accidentally stepped on a piece of glass which made a noise

“YO DOPEY GIRL, watch where you’re going” Shay barked

“Turn your face, man” Lanelle snapped back “Anyway, what I don’t understand is how nobody has even called the police, let alone come over to check what’s going on after Paul smashed through the window”

“Have you seen how empty this entire block is?” Wale rhetorically asked “Completely deserted. Feels like a graveyard”

“Trust me” Paul declared “When we meet MARSHAL, I’ll be like ‘YO FAM, WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS’ and if she don’t give me a valid answer, I will slap her like it’s nobody’s businesses”

“Joker” Lanelle laughed

“Excuse you? MARSHAL could well and truly be a MAN” Shay barked

“Did you see how DEMENTED KOFI was? Only a chick could make someone that insane” Paul replied

“You’re so sexist, man don’t let me dig up this debate. You don’t want it, trust me” Shay sharply answered “Plus, I have a feeling this isn’t MARSHAL anyway. Kofi’s brain cells are cooked, he was crazy, and this could be ANYBODYS house. If I die, you all are to blame, remember that”

“SHUT...UP...MAN...GOSH” Lanelle spat in an annoyed tone “SHUT THE HELL UP...you chat so MUCH BREEZE it’s inhuman, say something productive for ONCE”

“Lanelle cool down” Courtney replied “We can’t lose focus here”

Paul and Wale produced flashlights from their pockets that they took earlier from the shop, to have a better view of the apartment

“This...is strange” Lanelle declared “This place looks completely normal? I expected some snake-head thing lying around or some kind of evil shrine thing”

“Shows how simple minded you are” Shay declared

“THAT’S IT” Lanelle snapped, as she charged at Shay. Shay stepped aside, narrowly missing the brute force Lanelle was about to apply to her. Lanelle then smacked into a book shelf, which turned sideways, and Lanelle disappeared

“NO LANELLE” Courtney bolted to the bookshelf and pushed it to try and open it, but to no avail

“She’ll be fine, she always is” Shay rolled her eyes

On the other side of the bookshelf, it was dark and gloomy. Lanelle slowly rose to her feet and briefly scanned her surroundings. She then saw something strange, and her eyes ballooned in absolute horror
