FAIR WARNING
CHAPTER THIRTEEN
“3.65...” A shop keeper grunted
Lil reached into her pockets and produced some coins. She counted. It came up to £2.98
“Hello...I ain’t got all day, I’ve got a life, you know” The shop keeper growled
“Sorry, I’ve only got £2.98” Lil began “Could you please let me off, and I’ll bring you the rest tomorrow”
The shop keeper smiled
“Nice try, you brat; Gimme the right amount or you can bounce your arse right out of my shop”
Lil thought hard whether to just run out and take the packet of chocolates she bought for the group, as she has come to finally know the true meaning of friends or leave
“So...what’s it gonna be, missy?” The shop keeper asked
Lil took the chocolates and bolted out of the door. The shop keeper jumped over the counter
“Marcus, COVER THE TILL” He barked at his son
“What...” Marcus asked as he had headphones on and didn’t hear a word
Lil managed to outrun the shop keeper. She looked back as she was running. The shop keeper was out of breath and rested against a wall. Lil smiled...BOOM
She knocked into a person
“You BITCH, can’t you see I’m in a FLIPPING WHEELCHAIR”
“I’m...I’m sorry” Lil replied “OH...Paul?”
“LIl?” Wale replied
“Wale” Lil responded as she rose to her feet “DeMarion, gee, how you doing?”
“I’m good” DeMarion grinned as he helped Paul back to his wheelchair
“What’s going on...Paul, what happened?”
“We set him up on a date with some big girl, init...” DeMarion began “He was talking to her and suddenly the restaurant blew up”
“Madness...” Lil shook her head “This is probably the work of MARSHAL”
“Maybe...” Wale replied “But you know what...We are concerned with bringing down that MARSHAL thing, but that thing did say we should ‘change our ways’. I’m just trying to clock on what that thing really means”
“You’re GASSED bro” Paul began “I mean...what, did Kofi mess with your brain with that BS speech he gave earlier”
“What...what did he say?” Lil asked
“It was bare suspicious...I mean, it’s like he knows something deep about MARSHAL that we don’t know” Wale replied
“Serious...Oh no” Lil replied “Oh, Here, I got you chocolates”
“Safe” Paul grabbed a chocolate first, followed by Wale and DeMarion
“You hungry AFF” DeMarion laughed [AFF: African]
“Listen, MILKY BAR, can you stop chatting to me?” Paul barked before he took a bite of his chocolate
A few minutes later, as Lil was walking with the boys, coincidently she bumped into Courtney, Lanelle, Shay and Dalmar
“Thank God we met up” Wale smiled “How you doing, Courtney?”
“I’m good” Courtney cooed
“Oooooh…” Lanelle teased. Courtney hit Lanelle slyly “Ouch man”
“Alright, so what’s going on…?” DeMarion began “The phone lines are down…the internet is gone, how the hell are we going to communicate?”
