It was past nightfall when Alice and Ezekiel left the company of Nate and Trisha. Ezekiel was told the information he sought and now everything was clear to him. Alice on the other hand was confused, as people she did not know were mentioned and the sleep deprivation and mental exhaustion did not help matters either.

Trisha and Nate lit various candles that were scattered around the room. They joined hands in the center and whispered words in a language Alice was not accustom to. In an instant, Alice and Ezekiel had vanished from the small concrete room underneath the house and appeared exactly where he envisioned.

Frederick awaits their arrival and for their plan to commence. Frederick and Ezekiel work on finishing up the last details of the plan that when midnight strikes everything begins.

One by one guard sought to protect Darius drop, weakening his defenses. Frederick was informed earlier of Darius's return to his kingdom as he knew there was something brewing.

By the work of Fredericks friends and foes alike, all driven by the dislike of Darius, slaughter his guards that surround the town in which Alice resided as well as around the world.

Step one: weaken their defenses.

By morning it was complete.

Alice lays asleep, a trusted guard watching over her. She sleeps however it is not peaceful. It's her dreams...well memories. They're all coming back and bombarding her, piece by piece. Her mind in shambles.

These memories, well they are not all happy ones. Parts of her past replay, sickness, and death. Every last drop. Every last thought. It's sticking to her, embedding itself in the crevices of her brain and thoughts.

It's deja vu. It's remembering. It's replacing all the thoughts of the life she once knew. She is no longer dreaming of another life but remembering each individual experience. Holding onto it as if it would vanish right in front of her eyes.

Ezekiel remains in the main room of the small house. He sits with Frederick, waiting for news of the damages they hoped for. He heard Alice's steady heartbeat. He finds solitude in it, he always had. Not much has changed in 538 years.

He and Frederick returned a few hours prior, once the guards in their region were all executed. He now prepares the second part of his plan.

It has taken a while for everything to click into place, needing the resources and allies. Waiting for Darius's vulnerability to show, although it is rare. Once he heard the news of Alice's return, Ezekiel knew it was then that his plan would begin. Bringing him out of the Kingdom of a Debi was necessary, a distraction. 538 years does a lot to a person, time to muster up a plan of pain and torture. Of revenge. In that time, distaste became an annoyance, and annoyance became anger. The centuries that passed created complete rage.

He had killed her, he felt her die. He felt half of himself combust into absolute darkness. His recent years are nothing but loss and Darius is to blame.

Alice stirs in her sleep, in that state of sleep and being awake. It's a weird state, being so aware and not becomes all the same.

Needing a break, Ezekiel stands from his chair, briskly walks out of the room and into hers. He sits next to her in the bed and admires her sleeping figure. He hears the beat of her heart as if it was music. He depended on that sound because he knows the terrors and pain of hearing it stop.

He gently brushes the hair away from her face, trailing a path down her forehead to her ear. Her eyes flutter open with heavy blinks. There's a certain beauty, Ezekiel thinks, of the way she looks in the morning. It's like the events of yesterday do not matter.

"Good morning, love," he whispers and places a kiss on her forehead. She nuzzles into his hand placed on her cheek.

The morning bliss quickly passed and they were reminded of reality. Alice sits eating some breakfast Ezekiel insisted she eats as he and Frederick continue to talk.

More people, or vampires, appeared and talked of step two as the main topic of conversation. Some Alice vaguely remembered and more memories came rushing back to her. Old friends or companions from her first life. Others were strangers.

And when the conversations and people started to suffocate her, she excused herself from the room.  Thoughts consume her. She hates it and always has. They come barreling in, strip her of her smiles, laughs, every slight glimpse of happiness. The people, she thought, it's too much. There's too many out there, she too scared for what's to happen, she's still understanding everything around her.

Even part of her is waiting to wake up from a dream. Part of her wants all of it to be a dream and not a reality. She's struggling always has and always will. The other part feels undeniably happy with Zeke.

Ezekiel the on the other hand is ravishing in his plan. Centuries of rage. Hate. Fury. And it was all coming together.

When later afternoon came, Ezekiel was ready for step two to begin.

"How are you, love?"

Alice sits up in her bed and shrugs. He sits beside her and pulls her onto his lap. She quickly wraps her arms around him and buried herself into his neck.

"I hate feeling like this," she whispers as he holds her tighter.

"I know, but it will all be over soon."

"He knows your coming, and he's preparing for it. What's the difference between before and now?" She asks, suddenly worried.

"Patience. That is the difference. Patience, my love."
