Malcolm night : the detour to the hall of shadows

Chapter 9 : Hesitation And Preparation

KEVIN POV 

"Woah" I breathed. So this is why we were in so grave danger. Part of me wanted to go and bring that lady Cassandra back but after seeing that face.............. I felt like I was being watched all the time but one thing was for sure, if we ever had to confront him again ; We were as good as dead then. Just his face was so horrific that I was petrified even in my dreams. Malcolm interrupted my thoughts "I guess we should keep going and reach our dorm" 

I asked him while studying the book "And what if they haven't reach there yet ?"

"Then we will just wait for him there. and I definitely need a bath after all this" he added. I rolled my eyes at his unknowing to the danger we were surrounded with. I nodded "let's go then."

And we lumbered ahead to reach the dorm

When I reached the gate, I could hear voices. That meant they had come I swung the door open. The first reaction I got was from Jane "You stink !!" she shrieked and jumped on the sofa Sam said "Took you long enough huh ??"

I replied "Well somebody fainted right into my hands"

Malcolm rolled his eyes and retorted back "Ya and I was busy saving somebody's sorry butts." 

"Well you are alive I see" said a familiar voice from the shadows and out came professor James along with Leonidas, Thebes, Jamila and Xenolophius. I groaned. We were in for getting busted. 

James continued "So you found the truth now did you ??" we both nodded. A smile etched on his face. "Okay now you all decide whether you want to fight or just be in this school like others. We will let you decide that in private and we hall now take a leave." The gate closed behind me and I looked at others and said with panic in my eyes "We gotta say no guys. We are not even sure whom we are against and we just can't shoot an arrow in the blind"

Rose countered back "But it will finish the vampires" her voice was cracked with emotion. Malcolm looked at me crossly and said "Where did all of your bravery go all of a sudden huh ??" 

And Sam said "Listen I can tell that Kevin has seen something" he continued "Tell us" 

I scowled and told them what I had seen in my dream. We all sat in silence for a moment of two then Rose interrupted "But they are Vampires and if you all are not gonna come then I will go alone to finish this" she said sharply 

"Woah calm down. I guess we should vote." Lily suggested 

Kevin groaned "You all are not understanding it guys, I saw that it was..........................scary." 

And with that I left for my own room before I could start crying. 

MALCOLM POV 

I followed Kevin with a scorn. Why was he so afraid ?? God knows. I knocked at his door and I could hear sniffling then the door opened. Kevin asked "What now ??" 

"Explain" I said. Kevin looked at the heavens and said "I just told you man, the face" 

"C-mon !! You are afraid of a face ?? I s that what I am hearing from the mighty Kevin" He rolled his eyes and I continued "See if we don't go then there will be more attacks here and either way we are gonna die, so why don't die heroic that like a worthless moth ??" 

He nodded "But what if he kills us all ??" I shrug "How about this you just come with us and when we will reach there we will leave you at the entrance and go ahead. Agreed ??" 

He looks at me and said "Okay, I am in and no need to say that sentence I will come with you all"

I grin "Then let's get ready shall we ??" He nods and we both get up. 

After two hours straight, I was all ready after taking a small bag with me and convincing everyone to do the same and not take big trolleys. I almost had to fight with Lily when she said that she will take her book and make up kit "We aren't going for a stay in a hotel for god sake !!"

At last she had agreed grumpily. We had told the teachers that we were ready and they had said that we will have to leave at tomorrow dawn. I asked them "Why ??" I continued "We are all ready to go" 

"But at dawn there will be the least monsters and you will be safe for at least two or three hours." James said. We all nodded. The day went very slowly. I woke up at 2 or 3 in the afternoon after sleeping at 3:00 am and today was off for us. I yawned. I got ready and made a shake for myself. Jane, Lily and Kevin were watching T.V. Transformers. I guess. I took my shake to the couch to watch the movie. 

I joined them at the scene when Optimus Prime dies. I look at Kevin, his eyes were unfocused. He looked away from the screen when he died. To make him feel better I said "He will be resurrected" Kevin didn't react but Jane did, she growled "No spoilers stupid" 

"Where are Rose and Sam ??" I ask them 

Kevin replies "They both have gone for archery practice."  I nod. "I guess I will also go there."  Jane looks at me with her brow furrowed "But you suck at archery. I saw it myself" she said. I rolled my eyes and said "That's why I am practicing."

My brows were furrowed deep in concentration. I had shot a twenty arrows but yet I had not hit a single bulls eye. I really hated that. In fact I have always wanted to be an archer but when I see myself holding a bow and trying to shoot, it looks like I am gonna miss it. I looked beside me and saw Rose and Sam each holding and shooting like a professional. And here was I. But mainly I was doing this just to take my mind out of that dream I had. 

I couldn't believe that it may be him. In fact I had thought he was dead for years but now he had shown himself in my dreams. I was almost as terrified of facing him as Kevin was of facing that guy. I wanted to finish him as soon as possible because HE was the CAUSE that I was in my current predicament.

I let go of my 21st arrow and it sailed with a fire at its corner but I extinguished it before it could reach the board. I looked disbelievingly. I had hit a bulls eye. I turned my bow back into a watch, wore it and then turned to do something else. Dunno, maybe try out my powers.

I stood at the terrace, the only way to find out whether my powers were reliable or not were to........... I gulped and let myself fall on the surface. At first all I did was scream, lucky for me the building was really high so when I was halfway down, I started to concentrate. I was just ten metres away from the ground, I concentrated hard, I was just one foot above ground when I lurched to a stop. I whooped and then flew in some circles and landed on the grass.
