Breakfast

As soon as Anya disappeared into her room, Rachel got up from the table and threw herself on the sofa, still fuming.
Yuzuru knew at that moment, that he will have to finish his homework alone after he gets home. He already knew Rachel well enough to know that she will need to vent about her horrible flatmate for the rest of the evening.

He joined her on the sofa and gave her a hug, hoping to calm her down. She gave him a quick kiss but then pushed him away and started to talk without even being asked.

-You know she seemed actually nice when we moved in here? She wasn't much into chit-chatting but she did listen to me and we laughed together and I actually thought we were becoming friends!! And then she started to get colder and colder and turned into a proper bitch!

-Oh, is she really that bad? It seemed she is just concerned about Ella. Maybe you should call her...

-I AM Ella's friend and I am sure she is alright! And YES, Anya is really that bad. My ex-boyfriend cheated on me with her!!!!

-What?!

-Yeah, we were dating for almost a year and then he just broke up with me over her!! And once he was single, she ditched him as well!! What a piece of work that girl is!! She thinks just because she is so fucking smart, skipping years in college, winning chess tournaments, that everybody will just lie at her feet!! I just fucking hate her so much!!!!

Yuzuru wasn't exactly comfortable listening to all of that, especially with her using such strong language, but if Anya really did all that, he now understood what the tension was between them. Wondering how they can still live together.

-My mum is going back to Japan next week for several days, you could stay over if you like?

-No. I am not gonna let her win. I won't be the one to leave!

Rachel started to tear up and he gave her another hug.
She pulled him closer and soon as if there were no tears, she started to kiss him and taking off his t-shirt. Yuzuru let her do it, but once she moved to his pants he stopped her hand.

-Oh c'mon, not you as well!! Why? Am I not pretty enough? Or do you like Anya better than me as well, hm??!!

Rachel started to tear up again.

-No no, it's not that....

Yuzuru didn't know how to tell her that as much as he is enjoying spending time with her, and that he thinks he has some feelings for her, that it's just not enough for him. He felt really sorry for Rachel and wanted to comfort her. She pulled him in again on top of her and proceeded to take off her blouse. He stopped for a while and looked into her eyes, hardly believing how she can be still so pretty even right after crying. He started to kiss the remainder of her tears off her cheeks and soon her hand ended up on his pants again. This time he had let her.

Anya got up to make herself some breakfast just to find Rachel sitting on the sofa still in her nightdress, calling Ella.
She proceeded to make herself some tea and a toast, listening to Rachel's blabbering.

-Hey Ella, you okay? Good. You wouldn't believe it, but he finally slept with me! I realized I was going on it the wrong way the whole time! Just being sexy doesn't work on him, but it's so easy to take him on a guilt trip!! And he was sooo good! Honestly, I am not gonna date anyone who isn't an athlete from now on.---

Mid-conversation, Rachel looked at Anya, knowing very well she can hear every word and stuck her tongue out at her. Then she continued, still looking at Anya while talking, enjoying the triumphant moment.

--He even stayed the night to make sure I am alright! As if some stupid fight with stupid Anya could actually make me sad. LOL. He is really funny. Well anyway, see you soon at the lecture with Prof. Walsh. Bye babe!!

Anya rolled her eyes and proceeded to focus on making her toast. Rachel got up and went to sit on one of the barstools at the kitchen counter, following Anya's every move with her pointed eyes.

-Jealous much?

-Not jealous. I just feel sorry for him. I have no idea what he sees in you. He is actually such a kind and caring guy and somehow he ends up with a person who has the least empathy in a ten miles radius.

-Hmm, would you prefer he ended up with you? - Rachel said giggling.

The answer was yes, but Anya would never give her the satisfaction of admitting something like that.

-No. I just hope that sooner or later he will see your true colors and wakes up from that charm of yours.

-Keep dreaming nerd....

They both could hear now Yuzuru getting up and shortly after he joined them at the kitchen counter, already fully dressed but still looking sleepy.

-Oh, good morning pumpkin!! Did you sleep well?

Both girls could see how uncomfortable he felt being called a pumpkin but he ignored it and just replied that he slept alright and sat on one of the barstools as well.
Yuzuru was surprised to see both girls in the same room again as if nothing happened yesterday. But he knew that Rachel had a very explosive personality but also calming down very quickly.
And Anya always seemed to him as if she wouldn't care about a thing in the world.

He was quite sure that if the stove next to Anya would suddenly burst into flames, Rachel would be the one to start screaming and proceeded to faint, whereas Anya would just calmly walk towards the fire extinguisher, very probably rolling her eyes in the process.

-You looked so cute when you were sleeping by the way! Look!!

And Rachel took out her phone and showed Yuzuru several pictures she took while he was asleep. His face suddenly darkened.

-Can you please delete those?

-Why pumpkin?! You are so cute in those!

-Pleaseee.....

-No!

-Can you at least make sure they never see the light of the day?!

With her typical serious look, Anya looked at Yuzuru and asked.

-Something happened in the past, right?

Yuzuru nervously went through his hair, brushing them behind his ears.

-Yeah, a girl had similar pictures when we were dating. Everything was fine after we broke up, we parted on good terms. But then after I won the Sochi Olympics, she was trying to sell it to one of the tabloids. It was really expensive to keep both her and the tabloid quiet.

-Awww...I would never do that to you, pumpkin! Those are just for me for when I miss you when you are away, winning gold medals.

And Rachel leaned to Yuzuru and started to kiss him.
Anya rolled her eyes, grabbed her breakfast, and disappeared into her room.
