Few days passed and Yuzuru was at the rink, practicing for the upcoming program. Brian was not there as he was undergoing surgery. Tracy was there with him instead but not happy about his state of mind. She didn't know what was going on, only that it was something personal that Yuzuru would not talk about.
She only overheard that he was replacing his PR team and was wondering if it has something to do with Anya and some impending scandal.
Seeing Yuzuru already distraught like this, some kind of scandal was the last thing they needed before tomorrow's Short Program.
Yuzuru again asked her to be checking his phone even though he knew there was no chance for Anya to get his number. He just had to hope that as soon as he is back in Canada, she would try to come over, to maybe get some explanation from him.
And his mum already promised him she would wait at home while he is at practice not to miss her potential visit. Even though Yuzuru was worried that at this point she has probably accepted the job offer and may not even return back if she would have no reason to.
He was just betting on Anya's smartness that she will figure out a way how to contact him and believe that he would never cut contact with her like that.
He took a sip from his bottle, patted Pooh-san, and went back to skating, preparing for a quad Lutz.

-So how does it look?
-We will be able to tell for certain only tomorrow once the swelling subsides. But at this point, it doesn't look good. I would not recommend skating.
-But if I miss the NHK now, I will also miss the GP Final!!
-I am really sorry.
-So this whole stupid trip would have been for nothing! Great.
Yuzuru got his clutches and left the doctor's office.
Once he was back in his hotel room, he googled Anya, something he was doing at least once a day, hoping there would be maybe somewhere written what she is up to now. Maybe another competition where he could visit her? But as always it was in vain and now looking at his swollen ankle, he felt like there was no meaning to anything he ever did at all.
He lied in the bed, stared at the ceiling, and missed Anya's physical closeness to him so much that his eyes started to water.
Yuzuru wanted to hug her so badly and the fact that he was absolutely helpless was driving him crazy.
The next day wasn't any better as the doctors confirmed that there is no way he should be skating and what was worse, that even his attendance at the Olympics was now in danger.
They didn't recommend him to travel back to Canada and rather told him to finish his treatment, or at least the bare minimum of one month, still in Japan.
After several fights with literally everyone who had a say in it, he gave up and agreed. At this point, he didn't feel like it would change anything anyway.
But he at least made his mum promise, that as soon as the new PR team is chosen, he will have the main say in it.
Ever since she read the interview with Anya, she felt so guilty for doubting her, and so sad for Yuzuru that she would do anything to fix it. Even though he knew that she meant well and didn't blame her directly. Yuzuru just wanted to make sure, that this time his team will know what is expected of them and whom they should answer to.
Yumi has set the meeting for the final decision in the next two days.

This time it was just three ladies, no man and they all sat down together with both Yuzuru and his mum in the same conference where he fired his last PR team. After a short introduction and their portfolio of previous clients, Yuzuru got to the point.
-My last team had always a million rules for me to follow. So this time I want to make sure it's the other way round and it is clear to everyone what is expected of them.
-Of course, Hanyu-san.
-I understand what is expected of me in Japan, but in Canada, I do not want anyone to be mingling in my personal life and telling me how to behave. I know very well what my actions can cause and am already very careful as it is.
-Understood.
-I like to keep my life private. Even from my PR team. If I see that there is something to be shared with you, I will share it. And when I do, no matter what course of action you decide to take, it will always be discussed with me first. No matter if it's right before a competition. Otherwise, Mrs. Hanyu would be your day-to-day point of contact as my manager. But I really want to make it clear that every decision will be always run through me first.
-Understood.
-I want it to be specifically written as part of our contract.
-That won't be difficult to add.
-Good. In that case, your portfolio is very impressive and I would be happy to have you on board.
He smiled politely, honestly liking all three ladies.
They then bowed and Yuzuru hopped away on his clutches, going back to his room to pack as they were leaving with his mum to their house in Japan.
