The Surrender

After his quick breakfast, Yuzuru went to one of the hotel meeting rooms for an emergency briefing with his PR team, already dreading what is going to come out of it. Very probably just a million more rules for him and Anya to follow.
Harriet asked him to sit down and slid his phone towards him, his mum was surprisingly quiet with a guilty look on her face. Yuzuru immediately assumed that she told them Anya's phone number was leaked as well and sighed, grabbing his phone.

-Well Hanyu-san, let us start with saying that we absolutely understand the immense pressure you are constantly facing. It is definitely not an easy task but we need you to understand that this is why we are here. To protect you. You need to start sharing things with us more.

Yuzuru just nodded but didn't say anything, hoping to be done with the meeting as soon as possible and on the ice.

-So we have of course changed your phone number, again. But when it comes to Anya, we can now only sit and wait to see what comes out of it.

-What do you mean?

-Well the interview of course. We are tracking all of the online web pages of the tabloids as well as prints. But so far nothing, so it's very probable to whomever she gave the interview will release it just before the competition. Especially if she made an exclusive deal to give it just to them. We are really very sorry that you were betrayed like that again.

-I was not betrayed!

Yuzuru turned to his mum, his face red with anger.

-Why did you tell them?! Don't you trust her at all?! After everything, she has been through??!!

-I am so sorry Yuzu, I just thought it's important that they have the full picture. I didn't think it would go so far, but I am sure Mrs. Clarke and her team know what they are doing. What's best for both of you.

-What do you mean 'to go so far'? What did you do?!

And he turned back to Harriet, terrified if they did something to Anya, maybe trying to ruin her reputation so her words in an interview wouldn't have been of value.

-We had your phone cleared from any communication with her. If you still have her number somewhere else, we can of course not prevent you from contacting her again, but we would really appreciate it if you would leave all the communication with her up to your lawyers.
At this point, they are trying to reach her themselves but failing. So we might have to wait until she either contacts us first requesting money or until the interview shows up and we will then know how bad it is. What's not adding to it is, that she even had a picture of the two of you as it was resent from your phone to hers, so she now has proof that you two were together and it will be harder to deny it.

-We are still together!!!! And I didn't have her phone number anywhere else! Do you have it?!

-Yes. But her phone cannot be reached at all for some reason. It seems she might have discontinued her number as well, possibly to avoid a call from us or you.

-OR JUST MAYBE THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO HER!!?? That the tabloid phone calls spiked after my private number was leaked!!! So you are telling me we have now no way of reaching her?! Or she of reaching me so it can be all explained?!

-I am afraid so, but trust us, it is for the best, this must be handled by the lawyers....

-She was so right about you from the very start!!

-Hanyu-san, we really don't believe she was in the relationship with you for the right reasons.

-That's because you don't know her, but yet she saw through you right from the start!! You are all fired!!
