Haruno's PoV

"Haruno-san, a man will attend this event of ours that will need the outmost of attention."

Mother told me as I was organizing everything so it will all be perfect with no mistakes.

"Who's the guest?"

"Ayanokouji Kiyotaka."

He was not known, he hadn't and haven't attended a single event of ours, or rather haven't been mingling with our family.

Which means...

An upstart?

"Of course mother. I'll do my outmost." I replied as I use my fake smile.

She only nodded at me and left the venue as she also had a lot to do for the event.

I wish I can bother Hikigaya and Yukino-chan, but since they were helping organizing the event, I would just get in the way and would make my work more harder.

"Welp, 3 hours till go time."

I finished up on every single thing to make it more impressive, checked the food, catering the tables, the equipment check.

And it was now go time, the doors were opened and countless guests came and went, greeting my family, starting from my father, to my mother, to me and to Yukino-chan.

Hikigaya looks so out of place as he was restless while standing with us, he was embarrassed.

So where is this special guest? I look towards the picture I have of them.

A brown haired handsome young man, a bit of an emotionless face, and dazzling golden eyes that seems to see everything.

The event started, the music was played, followed by a beautiful melody.

He was late, why would he be? Someone who wanted to gain connections with us would surely try to go for a good impression but why isn't he here yet?

Hours passed till he arrived, he was more handsome in person, he surely had the face to capture the stage, but he was strangely... Out of place and most likely, like thin air.

I approached him, he seemed to notice my gaze as he tidied up his necktie and checked his watch.

"Good evening to you Ayanokouji-san."

A young man, probably younger than Hikigaya and Yukino-chan.

"Good evening to you too Haruno."

Already calling me by my first name? If you looked at him he didn't seem to be the type.

"You're a bit late, a problem caught you up?"

Since he was more than late, I decided to probe him.

He seemed a bit amused, his lips curved but that was it, his expression hardly changed.

"Ah yes, I just had a meeting."

"A meeting more important for you than attending this event?"

"Yes."

I was a bit surprised by his blunt nature, I didn't detect that he was lying or rather his expressions didn't change one bit so if he was really lying that would more than impressive.
