Chapter 24: Not Ready for What's to Come

"What the hell did you do to her?!" Bakugo lunges himself at Daken, his palms open and ready to blast the mohawk man's face again.

Until Laura grabbed Bakugo's arms to stop him, Bakugo stopped himself from using his quirk as he looks at the brainwashed Laura before she threw him over her head and slammed him down to the ground.

"Yeah, the whole 'attacking me' thing won't work this time," Daken chuckled softly.

Shigaraki and the other members of the League of Villains looked at Daken. Daken noticed their staring and raised his brow at them.

"What?" he asked the group. "I'm not gonna kill him; I'm just using Laura-chan here to convince him to join." Daken watches Laura climb on top of Bakugo, holding him down as Daken then crouched down to look at Bakugo. "Kids tend to make wise decisions when someone they care about is involved."

"Did you manage to find her?" Mariko asked All Might.

"We tracked down their location; we'll be leaving soon, Mariko-sensei," All Might answered with his usual broad smile.

"I'm not your school teacher anymore, Toshinori..." the older Japanese woman sighed.

They were at Mariko's home. She's been stressed and scared for Laura ever since she found out about what happened to her. She was sitting on the couch in the living room with her hands clasped together, covering her face.

All Might puts a hand on Mariko's shoulder to reassure her. "We'll save them. I promise you that."

"They know what she is..." Mariko says under her breath. "They'll do something to her... as they did with Logan..." she uncovers her face and looks up at All Might. "I believe you can save her, Toshinori... please save her."

All Might looks down at Mariko, still with a bright smile on his face, before answering.

"I will."

Later, at the League of Villains' hideout, Laura still had Bakugo restrained on the floor.

"You sure this'll work?" Toga asked Daken. "What if he doesn't really care much about her?"

Daken shrugs as a smirk appeared on his face. "When push comes to shove, we'll use brainwashing as a last resort."

Bakugo grunted and growled as he was unable to do anything.

Shit! I can blast all of them using my full power, but... Bakugo looks up at Laura, who growled like a wild animal. ... she'll definitely kill me if I try. Hell, even if I manage to survive trying to break out of Laura's grip, the warp guy will be a problem too.

Bakugo was running out of options. He almost felt useless again, like when he was attacked by that slime-like villain a long time ago. It hurts his pride to feel so powerless.

Bakugo looked up at Laura again. She has a healing factor. A really stubborn one that'll heal her quickly.

I won't have to worry about her getting hurt if she can heal, he thought to himself as he prepares to use his quirk. Once I blast her off me and everyone else, I'll try and make an opening and get to that back door...
