WILL'S POV

After leaving the Doctor and Aria I knew that the only place I wanted to go— I needed to check out and see if things really were the same because if I was right then that meant that my family were still alive and living on the same estate as back home and nothing would've changed. I walked past a vacant lot and up to an army roadblock.

"Am I all right to get past?" I ask the soldiers

"Yeah. No bother. Curfew doesn't start till ten." The soldier tells me and I was stood in shock

"There's a curfew?" I asked in confusion

"Course there is. Where you been living, mate? Up there with the toffs?" The solider points up to the zeppelins.

"I wish. See you." I say as I go underneath the barrier and I continue to walk down the street, it didn't take me long to find my old family home— the nerves inside of me were starting to get the better than me but before I even realised I had already made contact and I rattled the knocker on number one.

"Who's that there?" I hear a soft voice say and I instantly recognised it as Lacy's although it would've changed in five years I could tell her voice in an instant.
"Who is it? I know you're there. We've got nothing worth stealing and don't think I'm going to disappear! You're not going to take me. So just get lost!" She says seriously which makes me laugh a little bit

"Hi." I say softly and even though the door was still shut I knew that Lacy could still hear me

"Is that you?" She asks in the same soft tone front the other side of the wooden door

"It's me. I came home." I say trying to hold back my tears as she opened the door and when she opened it— Lacy was stood in front of me in a black hoodie and black jeans with long blonde hair, her freckles were as prominent as ever.

"Quill?" She asks me and I nod my head and before I knew it Lacy practically jumped into my arms and hugged me tightly and I squeezed her back like I was scared she was going to disappear right in front of me,

'Lacy who are you talking too? I told you not to open the door unless it's your—' once I saw my mum appear she stood by the stairs in shock

"Quill?" She whispers

"It's Will." I correct her as I stop hugging Lacy

"I know my own son's name. It's Quill. Now, come here." My mum says as she walks towards me and she hugs me tightly.

"Okay, I'm Quill. Of course I am. Quill, that's me." I say trying to compose myself from crying and before I knew it my mum was slapping me

"You stupid boy. Where have you been?" She shouted

"Ow! Stop hitting me!" I flinched away

"It's been days and days! I keep hearing all these stories. People disappearing off the streets. There's nothing official on the download but there're all these rumours, and, and whispers." My mum tells me and when I looked behind her I saw that the corner of the carpet on the stairs was ripped up just like it used to be in my old home— endless amounts of times my mum would trip and fall the ended up with a fractured neck last time but the doctors said it was very close to breaking.

"That carpet on the stairs, I told you to get it fixed. You're going to fall—" I held back my tears
"—and break your neck." I finish

"Well, you get it fixed for me." She tells me

"I should have done way back. I guess I'm just kind of useless." I say

"Now, I never said that." My mum smiles,
