Saying goodbye to Martha was hard, we shared a unique experience with one another back home she understood the emotions and feelings of travelling with the Doctor. The fear of the monsters, the thrill of the chase but also the shared joy of returning back to the Tardis. Stepping into that remarkable machine again was something someone only could dream of doing for a second time around and I was forever grateful that the Doctor allowed me to join him once again.
"Oh, smell that air. Grass and lemonade. And a little bit of mint. A hint of mint. Must be the nineteen twenties." The Doctor told Donna and myself as we stepped out of the Tardis
"You can tell what year it is just by smelling?" Donna asked
"Oh, yeah." The Doctor responded knowingly which made me laugh with a small scoff,
"Or maybe that big vintage car coming up the drive gave it away." I laughed as I pointed out an open topped tourer that turned on the gravel in front of a large house and sounds its horn. Two servants come out, the butler and a footman,
"Stop being a show off." I lightly hit the Doctor on his arm and smile at him and he returns the bright beam."You two should probably get changed otherwise you'll both stick out like a sore thumb." The Doctor said to Donna and myself so the two of us walked back into the Tardis and went on a hunt for some more appropriate clothes for us to wear.
When I found the dress that I was more than satisfied with Donna and I walked back to the console room so we could walk outside again, I left my gun on top of the Tardis console knowing it would be safe there— not to mention I didn't want to draw attention to us all with a weapon. Donna was about to walk out first when we both heard the Doctor knock on the Tardis door.
'We'll be late for cocktails.' He shouts on the outside, Donna had changed into a beaded dress suitable for the period.
"What do you think? Flapper or slapper?" Donna jokes about her attire as the two of us step outside again to join the Doctor
"Flapper. You look lovely." He smiles at her, as the Doctor and Donna were walking away I took in my surroundings feeling the bliss of travelling again,
"Come on Aria!" The Doctor called out to me— I was completely lost in my own thoughts that I had to run a little to catch up to Donna and the Doctor. Once I joined the pair Donna was looking at everyone and everything in front of her, the Doctor turned around to look at me and extended out his hand for me to hold,"Thank you for this." I said to him
"What do you mean?" The Doctor asked Aria
"For letting me join you and Donna I had my turn travelling with you and it was amazing I didn't think I would ever get to do it again." I explained a little cautiously
"I wasn't ever going to let you leave like Martha did, you belong on the Tardis. With me." He smiled and I smiled brightly in return as I took his hand that he had offered out to me minutes ago. As we made our way across the lawn where all the guests had been conversing together a butler came along and offered us some drinks.
