"Mack! Get back here! Give me back my shoe!" I sprint down the stairs after my ever-mischievous dog with only one shoe on my foot. "You know that's not your toy, give it back!"
I just catch sight of the end of his golden, furry tail going around the corner and quickly change directions, sliding across the floor slightly and almost falling over. I pass my dad who is sitting at the dining table, reading his newspaper while drinking his coffee.
"Morning Dad!" I call out to him as I pass but don't stop, not wanting to leave my dog with my shoe, knowing that he will chew it up.
"Morning, sweetheart!" I hear him call back and I know he is holding back a laugh.
I huff and skid across the hall, switching directions when I see Mack run into the living room. He jumps up on the sofa and lies down just as I come to a stop in front of him. Placing my hands on my hips, I cock my head to the side and stare at the devilish dog.
"That is not your shoe, is it?" He just tilts his head to the side and stares at me innocently, one paw resting on my black converse. I shake my head and let out a disbelieving laugh. "It's a good thing you're cute." I mutter, stepping forward and taking my shoe from him.
I stomp back through to the dining room, seeing that my dad is now on the phone. He looks up when he sees me and smiles as he speaks into the phone, "Here she is."
I grin and grab the phone, putting it up to my ear as I happily skip out of the room. "Hey Lulu!"
"Hey Bels! Dad said you were chasing Mack around?" She lets out a laugh, "What were you doing?"
I sigh and jog up the stairs before walking into my room as I reply, "He took my shoe. Now I'm probably gonna be late for school."
Layla laughs again, "I bet Max isn't even there to pick you up yet."
"Better be," Reece's deep voice comes through the phone and I smile. I really miss the both of them. "Tell him I'll beat his áss if he's late again."
I roll my eyes, holding the phone between my head and shoulder as I pull my shoe on. I'm quite happy with my outfit today. It consists of a white crop top with a grey plaid miniskirt that I've paired with my converses after way too much trouble.

"That was one time. He's never been late since." I quickly tie up my laces before grabbing my school bag and swinging it over my shoulder.
"Good. But my promise still stands." Reece replies and I laugh, jogging back down the stairs.
"Thanks, Reece. I'll make sure to tell him." I say, walking back into the dining room and getting ready to hand the phone back to dad.
"You probably need to go to school, but I'll call you later, alright Bels?" Layla questions.
