Trey's POV

"Holy fúck."

Those are the first words that leave my mouth when Sophie's apartment door swings open. I'm not proud of it – doesn't really leave the best first impression. But I so wasn't expecting what I saw.

Someone that looks exactly like Sophie but is definitely not her stands before me. I know it's not her because this woman's hair is much longer than Sophie's which is cut short at her shoulders. And she has blonde highlights whereas Sophie's is a dark brown.

"Hello to you too." The woman deadpans, raising an eyebrow and crossing her arms over her chest. She is so judging me right now.

"Uh, sorry, I just- was not expecting that." I clear my throat and reach a hand up to rub the back of my neck sheepishly.

"Of course Sophie didn't tell you she has a twin. It's like she forgets I exist sometimes." She rolls her eyes, a small smile slipping onto her lips as she sticks a hand out for me to shake. "I'm Macy. Older than Sophie by three minutes and way cooler than her."

"Leave the guy alone, chica." A new voice comes from further into the apartment before a shorter woman approaches, curling an arm around Macy. She sticks her other hand out to me with a smile. "I'm Raine, Macy's fiancée." I shake her hand as well before wincing when she tightens her grip. The smile never leaves her face. "Hurt that goofball and you're a dead man. Got it?"

I nod hurriedly, bringing my hand back to my body when she finally releases it. I look between the two girls with wide eyes. "It's nice to meet you both."

"Please don't tell me you're terrorising him already." Thankfully, Sophie's voice comes from behind the pair and I feel my shoulders sag with relief. These two are very scary. "Go back to your own apartment now, you pests."

Macy turns to her sister with narrowed eyes, "I think you mean 'thank you so much for dog-sitting my little devil-spawn while I fúck one of my patients owners'."

Sophie finally comes into view behind Raine, glaring at her sister. "Fúck off."

"Fine, fine. We're leaving." Macy rolls her eyes and steps past me with Raine behind her.

Now that Sophie's fully in view, I see that she is holding a dog in her arms. She turns her gaze to me and offers me a bright smile. "Sorry about them. I promise they're leaving."

"It's fine. They're just protective over you – I get it." I shrug with a smile.

"This is Rufus by the way," She looks down at the dog in her arms whose tail is wagging so fast I think it's about to fly off.

"Hi, little guy." I reach out to pat his head and he immediately starts licking my hand all over, his body squirming in Sophie's arms in an attempt to escape. I chuckle. "He's so cute."

"He's absolutely not." Macy speaks up and Sophie gives her a loaded stare. With a sigh, she walks forward and takes the dog from her sister. "Fine. We're going. Have fun. Use protection." Then they walk over to the apartment across the hall and head inside, shutting the door behind them.

I turn back to Sophie. "Your sister lives right there?"

She shrugs. "We used to share an apartment but then her and Raine moved in together a couple years ago. They just decided to stay in the same building. I wouldn't want to be too far from her – we've always been close and I've never spent much time away from her. It would be weird not living so close."
