Sophie's POV
~
"Are you sure this isn't going to be weird?"
"Why would it be weird?"
"I'm your niece's teacher and I used to be your nephew's teacher too."
"Yeah, but now you're my boyfriend."
"And I'm fúcking ecstatic about that, believe me. But won't it be weird for the kids?"
"I don't think so. We'll just explain it to them, and they'll get used to it. If anything, they'll think it's great. They love you, right?"
"I guess so..."
"Then there's nothing to worry about, baby." I glance at Trey when we pull up to a red light, looking to where he's sitting in the passenger seat. He looks tense and a little nervous, so I reach a hand over and place it on his thigh. "Please relax. I'm the youngest of all my siblings and they've all been in relationships for years. It's going to be fine. They're so excited to meet you."
He lets out a little sigh, nodding his head. "I'm still a little nervous though. The whole meeting the parents thing is scary, baby."
"I know it is, but the second you meet them, you'll see that you have nothing to worry about." I reassure him, looking back out to the road as the light turns green. We arrive at my parents' house a few minutes later and only their car is parked in the driveway. We must be the first ones here, so I take the free spot in the driveway and put the car in park.
Trey and I walk up to the front door, wine and dessert in hand. I don't bother knocking on the front door, knowing it will be open and just letting myself inside. "Your favourite daughter's here!" I announce loudly as we step into the entranceway.
I hear my dad's laughter before my mom's reply, "We don't have favourites!"
"I do!" Dad argues, laughing still.
Trey and I slip off our shoes before heading through to the living room where their voices came from. As we walk, I feel his hand grip mine and I give his a reassuring squeeze before we walk into the room. Mom is already out of her seat and ready to greet us when we walk in.
"Hey, Mom." I pull her into a hug when I reach her and she squeezes me to her tightly.
"Hi, babygirl." She pulls away slightly, glancing beside me then giving me a knowing grin. "You going to introduce us?"
I smile and step back beside Trey, wrapping an arm around his waist. "This is my boyfriend, Trey. Trey, the is my mom, Novah."
Dad's head whips around at my words. He stands from him spot on the couch and looks at Trey, crossing his arms over his chest. He doesn't say a word as he sizes him up.
Mom doesn't hesitate though, walking forward to embrace Trey in a hug. "It's so lovely to finally meet you! When Sophie told us about you, I was so happy! I know you must be a good one, because my girl is very picky."
"Mom," I groan, shaking my head and looking to the ceiling to try and hide my blush.
Trey only laughs. "And I consider myself to be very lucky for that exact reason, Novah. It's so nice to meet you as well."
Dad walks up behind Mom as Trey comes back to my side and he lets out a sigh. After looking up at him for a moment, Dad sighs. "Alright, what am I supposed to say here again? Don't break her heart or I'll break your face. Don't get her pregnant, because I'll chop off your díck. Respect her or I'll fúck up your life..." He trails off, looking down at my mom, "Am I missing anything, Honey?"
